  • Publication number: 20250003694
Abstract: A heat transfer apparatus including a housing and a wick structure is provided that is configured to dissipate heat from a heat source. The housing defines a chamber that holds working fluid. The wick structure includes a body and pores defined by the body. The heat transfer apparatus defines an evaporator section configured to evaporate the working fluid using heat from a heat source and a condenser section configured to dissipate heat carried by the evaporated working fluid through condensation of the evaporated working fluid. The wick structure has a repeatable, configurable, and controlled geometry optimized to move the working fluid from the condenser section to the evaporator section via capillary action. The body of the wick structure may have a gyroidal geometry. Associated methods are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20180085268
Abstract: A way of safely lifting or lowering a person of limited physical strength or coordination, using a system of bladders an outer membrane and a supply of product, gas, liquid or otherwise. By using a small portable lifting or lowering device, comprising of a series of bladders with fail safes encased in an outer membrane, peace of mind and mobility can be given to people of limited physical strength. The fear of falling and not being rescued can cause people to move into a different assisted living home. With this system of lifting, the fear of falling would be greatly reduced.

  • Publication number: 20060185823
Abstract: A heat exchanger for cooling a heat generating device including a base having a recess with a base coolant inlet opening and a base coolant outlet opening. A porous core is positioned within the recess of the base, and has a core coolant inlet opening and a core coolant outlet opening that are arranged in corresponding relation with base coolant inlet opening and a base coolant outlet opening so as to be in fluid communication. A porous gasket is pinched between the porous core and the base.

  • Publication number: 20060004356
Abstract: A cooling member for a cautery surgical instrument such as a surgical forceps including a pair of elongate arms joined at an end so as to provide for resilient compressible movement of the arms between a normally open position and a squeezed closed position. The cooling member provides for conduction of heat away from an electrode tip, and comprises an first portion having a first diameter and a second portion spaced away from the first portion, and that transitions from the first diameter to at least one smaller diameter section. A socket is disposed within each arm of the forceps, and includes a longitudinal blind hole that is sized so as to releasably receive the smaller diameter section of the second portion, and a catch for engaging a portion of the arm.
