  • Publication number: 20240319353
Abstract: Provided are a system and method for coordinating dual wireless communications protocols when implementing a time difference of arrival (TDOA) framework for ranging between nodes. A first of the protocols (e.g., BLE) can be used for transmission of synchronization and TDOA schedules that prescribe synchronization and TDOA frames. The synchronization and TDOA frames can then be executed according to a second of the protocols (e.g., UWB), thus exemplifying an efficiency in energy consumption owing to an absence of transitioning between the first and second protocols transmissions throughout the schedules.

  • Publication number: 20240271813
Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) unit including a variable-speed drive and a bypass circuit is provided. Under normal operation, the drive receives line voltages as inputs and provides variable-speed control signals to components of the HVAC unit (for example, a compressor, fan motor, etc.). The drive allows the HVAC to operate at below maximum capacity, which increases the efficiency of the HVAC unit. When a fault condition is detected in the drive, the HVAC unit automatically switches to the bypass circuit such that the line voltages are provided directly to the components. This results in the HVAC unit operating at maximum capacity for a period of time, but allows the HVAC unit to continue operation even when the drive is experiencing the fault condition.

  • Publication number: 20240018934
Abstract: A “hydraulic rotating machinery” (“HRM”) system provides optimal energy efficiency over a very wide conditions of service (“COS”) range by configuring a plurality of variable speed HRMs in a “cluster.” The HRMs are interconnected by one or more valves that can be actuated by a controller to configure and vary a flow path through which a process fluid flows from an inlet to an outlet. By actively selecting which of the HRMs are included in the flow path, the interconnections therebetween, and the operating speeds thereof, the controller ensures that the HRM cluster continues to operate at optimal efficiency as the COS fluctuates over a very wide range. The HRMs can be identical to each other, or can vary in design. The HRM system can be implemented for storage and retrieval of green energy. The controller can also monitor the health of the cluster and/or of the associated process.
