  • Patent number: 8033117
Abstract: A method for controlling NOx emissions from a gas turbine having a fuel adjustment system may include setting an outer nozzle fuel flow to achieve a desired level of combustion dynamics for at least one of a plurality of combustion chambers, determining a delta adjustment value for a center nozzle fuel flow that will result in a desired level of NOx emissions from the gas turbine, and adjusting the center nozzle fuel flow according to the determined delta adjustment value to obtain the desired level of NOx emissions from the gas turbine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 18, 2008
Date of Patent: October 11, 2011
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Willy Steve Ziminsky, Scott Kopcho, Mark P. Bombard, Anthony Joseph Antonucci
  • Patent number: 7716971
Abstract: A method and system of testing an overspeed protection system of a turbomachine. The method and system may include providing an overspeed protection system on a turbomachine that may have a single or multiple shafts; determining whether the speed the shaft or shaft(s) exceeds a shutdown value; changing an overspeed trip value of the turbomachine; and determining whether the overspeed protection system would operate to trip the turbomachine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 20, 2006
Date of Patent: May 18, 2010
    Assignee: General Electric Company

  • Patent number: 7677089
Abstract: A method and system of testing an overspeed protection system of a turbomachine may include providing an overspeed protection system on a turbomachine having at least one shaft. The method may: determine whether a permissive or permissive(s) is satisfied; initiate an overspeed test; automatically adjusting the speed of a shaft; determining if the speed exceeds an overspeed trip value; and automatically disabling the automatic adjustment of the speed after the test is complete.

  • Patent number: 7441398
Abstract: An embodiment may comprise a system for controlling NOx emissions from a turbine having combustion chambers. The system may comprise a center fuel flow and a plurality of outer fuel flows for each of a plurality of combustion chambers. An outer fuel flow is set to achieve a desired level of combustion dynamics for at least one of the plurality of combustion chambers. A delta adjustment value is determined for the center fuel flow that will result in a desired level of NOx emissions from the turbine, and for adjusting the center fuel flow according to the determined delta adjustment value to obtain the desired level of NOx emissions from the turbine.
