  • Patent number: 11724009
Abstract: Modularizable implants and stents made with bio-absorbable metal wire alloys (‘bio-metals’, e.g. magnesium and alloys), and methods for making such implants and stents. The stents or implants may include one or more wire-formed rings or comprise inter-connected cells that form nets that may serve as modules that are assembled mechanically into stents, without the need for certain manufacturing processes that may affect the durability and physical properties thereof. The wires may be formed into rings mechanically and held in place using joining cuffs, and/or adjacent wires may be secured to one other mechanically using joining cuffs to form nets which can be used as implants or formed into stents. The stents can include radiopaque portions, e.g. associated with one or more joining cuffs, to aid in the positioning and evaluation of stents in the body by serving as visual indicators of alignment and expansion that can be detected using X-rays.

  • Publication number: 20230157852
Abstract: An implantable device, including: a tube including a plurality of biodegradable biometallic wires braided together, the tube being coated with a flexible conformal biodegradable polymer in an expanded state such that, upon compression and release of compression, the flexible conformal biodegradable polymer-coated tube self-expands back to the expanded state.

  • Publication number: 20220031310
Abstract: A surgical staple is provided. The surgical staple includes a crown having a center portion and a foldable portion, and a pair of legs extending orthogonally from the crown and configured to puncture tissue. The crown and the pair of legs are fabricated from a biodegradable metal such that biodegradation causes the center portion to separate from the foldable portion and the pair of legs, and the foldable portion and the pair of legs are absorbable within the tissue.

  • Publication number: 20220023078
Abstract: A balloon system for delivery of a device. The balloon system includes a balloon including: an elongated central portion including a proximal tapered cone and a distal tapered cone, the elongated central portion and the proximal and distal tapered cones being in an uninflated state; a proximal receiving trench adjacent the proximal tapered cone and a distal receiving trench adjacent the distal tapered cone, and a distal backstop adjacent the distal receiving trench, the distal receiving trench being defined by the distal backstop and the distal tapered cone; and a proximal retractable cuff disposed over the proximal receiving trench and the proximal tapered cone and a distal retractable cuff disposed over the distal receiving trench and the distal tapered cone.
