  • Patent number: 10859400
Abstract: A communication console may include a moveable plunger including a body and an arm. The arm may connect to and extend away from the body. A first element may be coupled to the arm. The first element may include a top point and a bottom point, the axis of displacement extending between the top point and the bottom point. The first element may move with the arm along the axis of displacement. A second element may be detached from the arm and positioned adjacent to the axis of displacement. Additionally, one of the first element or the second element may be a sensing element and another may be a detectable element. The sensing element may sense a spatial position of the detectable element and output an indication of a position of the plunger based on the spatial position of the detectable element.

  • Patent number: 9284852
Abstract: A gas turbine engine installation is provided that has a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) harness to transfer electrical signals, including electrical power, around a gas turbine engine. The FPCB harness is held to the gas turbine engine installation using clips. The clips have a jaw that has two sets of opposing teeth extending from a base, and a mouth through which the FPCB harness is inserted. The teeth point in a direction that has a component from the mouth to the teeth. This means that the force required to insert the FPCB harness into the clip is lower than the force required to pull the FPCB harness out of the clip in the opposite direction. This means that the FPCB harness can be secured in place while aiding ease of assembly.

  • Patent number: 9255521
Abstract: A gas turbine engine installation is provided that has a plurality of flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) harnesses to transfer electrical signals, including electrical power, around a gas turbine engine. The plurality of FPCB harnesses is held to the gas turbine engine installation using generally U-shaped clips that have a base from which first and second sidewalls extend. The FPCB harness is held between the tips of base-teeth extending from the base, and side-teeth extending from the first and second sidewalls. In this way, the FPCB harness can be held securely in position by the clip.

  • Patent number: 9019722
Abstract: A gas turbine engine installation is provided that has a plurality of flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) harnesses to transfer electrical signals, including electrical power, around a gas turbine engine. The plurality of FPCB harnesses is held to the gas turbine engine installation using clips that have at least two jaws. Each jaw has two sets of opposing teeth that do not intermesh, and cannot intermesh when pushed together. This allows more than one FPCB harness to be held by one clip without the risk of damaging the FPCB harnesses. Preventing the teeth from intermeshing also allows subsequent FPCB harnesses to be inserted into the clip without undue difficulty even after a first FPCB harness has already been inserted.

  • Patent number: 7880770
Abstract: Tools for controlling cameras (and other objects), using an input device. Some such tools may establish a threshold, above which the input from the input device is fed directly to the object being controlled, and below which the input signal is processed to provide smoother operation. This can allow for direct control over a camera (or other object) in large movements but still allow for smooth, controlled movements when slower movement is desired.

  • Publication number: 20080312770
Abstract: Novel controllers for filmmaking and/or animation, as well as systems and methods for their use. In a set of embodiments, a controller has an actuator (e.g., a joystick, etc.) that receives input from a user for controlling an object, such as a camera, a light, an animated character, etc. The input is provided as instructions, which are described according to a reference coordinate system, to a movement system for moving the object within a scene (i.e., relative to other objects within the scene). The controller may include an additional control allowing the user to define an auxiliary coordinate system, such that the input from the user is described according to the auxiliary coordinate system. Alternatively and/or additionally, the controller includes a control for allowing the user to select whether input should be described according to the auxiliary coordinate system or the reference coordinate system.

  • Publication number: 20080028312
Abstract: Novel tools that allow a user to organize filmmaking work. In some cases, a user interface can allow the user to organize filmmaking components directly in the filmmaking software, without necessarily requiring the user to explicitly use a file structure on a hard disk for organizational purposes, as some have done in the past. Further, some embodiments provide the ability for a user to organize his or her work into scenes, which contain one or more actions, again without needing to leave the tool or make use of a file system for organizational purposes. Novel data structures are provided by some embodiments to facilitate this organization.

  • Patent number: 7176811
Abstract: A test apparatus and method of electrical testing especially useful for verifying normal performance of essential functions in an aircraft atmospheric pressure responsive auxiliary altimeter under either of flight line or maintenance shop conditions. The tester provides electrical power and control signals needed to energize each of three functions in the considered altimeter instrument including instrument face illumination, altimeter stiction-limiting mechanical vibration generation, aircraft output signal generating potentiometer function and enables electrical current and voltage monitoring relating to the instrument functions being tested. Replacement of individual test instruments and other informal test apparatus with a convenient and probably more electrical accident-free integrated tester is contemplated.

  • Publication number: 20060109274
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention provide novel software, systems and methods for animation and/or filmmaking. In a set of embodiments, for example, a client-server system provides the ability to control various aspects of a live-action and/or an animated scene, including cameras and/or light sources (either real and/or virtual), animated characters, and other objects. This can include, merely by way of example, moving cameras, light and/or the like, as well as rendering animated objects (e.g., based on movements of the objects themselves and/or based on movements of cameras, lights, etc.).
