  • Patent number: 8612077
Abstract: A path-dependent control of a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) includes segmenting an original route into segments. A virtual route based on the remaining portion of the original route is generated once the HEV reaches a current segment of the original route. The virtual route includes a first segment corresponding to the current segment of the original route and a last segment representing at least two other segments of the remaining portion of the original route. Battery SoC set-points for the segments of the virtual route are generated. The vehicle is controlled according to the battery SoC set-point for the first segment of the virtual route as the vehicle travels along the current segment of the original route.

  • Patent number: 8606877
Abstract: A computing system comprises a plurality of computing nodes and is configured such that each computing node includes a processor configured to execute JAVA computer program instructions. The computing nodes cooperate to form a cluster, wherein the JAVA computer program instructions being executed by the plurality of computing nodes collectively accomplish a fully transactional application. Each application data object partition is associated with one of the computing nodes as a primary node for application data objects of that partition and further associated with at least one of the computing nodes as at least one secondary node for application data objects of that partition. Messages relative to an application data object are provided to the primary node for the application data object as well as to the at least one secondary node for that application data object, for updates.

  • Publication number: 20130278223
Abstract: A battery controller with monitoring logic for a model-based battery control of a battery performs battery current characterizing, parameter and state variable abnormality detection, and bound checking of error signals between measured and predicted output variables to generate an output. Switching between closed-loop operation (i.e., the model-based battery control) and open-loop operation (i.e., a traditional battery control) is done based on the output of the monitoring logic such that closed-loop stability and performance are reasonably guaranteed.

  • Publication number: 20130261966
Abstract: A method for determining a route for a vehicle includes receiving input indicative of a driver's dynamic control of the vehicle, determining the driver's driving style based on the input, and selecting values of parameters representing the driver's anticipated dynamic control of the vehicle based on the driving style. The method also includes identifying a plurality of candidate routes between an origin and destination, partitioning each of the candidate routes into a set of predefined route patterns, and determining an energy usage associated with each of the candidate routes based on the selected values and the set of predefined route patterns defining the candidate route. The method further includes identifying the candidate route having the minimum energy usage and providing output describing the route having the minimum energy usage.

  • Publication number: 20130179015
Abstract: A stability control system for a vehicle that has an electric traction motor that provides torque to an axle through a differential. The traction motor responds to an instability event that is sensed by sensors on the vehicle by initially reducing the torque provided to the traction wheels to regain steering control. The traction motor then pulses increased torque in sequence with the application of braking force to provide enhanced direct yaw moment control.

  • Patent number: 8462347
Abstract: A method for monitoring of siloxane compounds in a biogas includes the step of generating a first absorption spectrum based on a ratio of a first spectral measurement and a second spectral measurement. The first spectral measurement is from a non-absorptive gas having substantially no infrared absorptions in a specified wavelength range of interest and the second spectral measurement is from a sample gas comprising the biogas. The method also includes the step of calculating a concentration of at least one siloxane compound in the biogas using a second absorption spectrum based on, at least, a first individual absorption spectrum for a known concentration of the at least one siloxane compound.

  • Patent number: 8407723
Abstract: A computing system and method is a specification of user-defined business logic is provided as JAVA program instructions (or another programming language) which does not natively provide for specification of full transactionality, to accomplish a fully transactional application, including executed managed objects. The managed objects are persisted in a shared memory of the computing system, such that a scope of the objects is global to the fully transactional application. Furthermore, a catalog of the managed object is maintained. A query interface is provided for querying the managed objects, in order to receive a query from an application, to process the catalog, and to provide a result indication of at least one of the managed objects back to the querying application. Thus, for example, the application may process the managed objects that are indicated in the query result.
