  • Publication number: 20200182346
Abstract: A gear assembly includes a primary shaft, a driving gear, a driven gear, a secondary shaft, and a key wherein the primary shaft and the driving gear define a keyway for housing the key. The primary shaft defines a lower region of the keyway while the driving gear defines an upper region of the keyway. The driving gear may be mounted on the primary shaft such that the upper region and the lower regions of the keyway are aligned with each other in order for the keyway to house the key. The driven gear may be mounted on the secondary shaft such that the driven gear may be in meshing engagement with the driven gear. The aforementioned keyway defines a peninsula in a center portion of the driving gear. The peninsula is configured to abut a key disposed within the keyway.

  • Patent number: 10294878
Abstract: A turbocharger control system of a vehicle includes a trigger module that generates a trigger signal when a transmission of the vehicle is in one of (i) park and (ii) neutral. A wastegate target module, in response to the generation of the trigger signal, sets a target opening of a turbocharger wastegate to a predetermined opening and independently of a position of an accelerator pedal. The predetermined opening is greater than zero percent opening of the turbocharger wastegate. A wastegate actuator module actuates the turbocharger wastegate based on the target opening of the turbocharger wastegate.

  • Publication number: 20190136746
Abstract: Provided are methods controlling systems including a turbocharger configured to compress air for an engine, a cooler configured to receive turbocharged compressed air, a radiator, a coolant circuit for circulating coolant between the cooler and the radiator and including a bypass to manipulate coolant flow through the cooler. The methods include closing the bypass when engine speed and/or load exceeds a threshold, and otherwise one or more of reducing coolant flow through the cooler when the coolant temperature entering the cooler is higher than the compressed air temperature entering the cooler, manipulating coolant flow through the cooler based on the temperature of the compressed air received by the engine, and reducing coolant flow through the cooler when the temperature of the coolant entering the radiator is less than a temperature of the ambient air. Reducing coolant flow through the cooler reduces the coolant pressure drop within the coolant circuit.
