  • Publication number: 20240187349
Abstract: Systems and methods for accurate network traffic flow for time-sensitive networking in industrial systems. One configuration provides a system for controlling network traffic flow for time-sensitive networking in industrial systems. The system includes an electronic processor configured to receive, from an industrial controller of an industrial system, queuing data associated with a first queue of the industrial controller. The electronic processor is also configured to determine, based on the queuing data, a distribution of network traffic within the industrial system. The electronic processor is also configured to generate a network traffic model for display, the network traffic model including the distribution of network traffic within the industrial system.

  • Publication number: 20220100922
Abstract: For predicting industrial automation network performance, a method generates algorithm parameters in a first standard format for a network calculus model from design data for a network implementation. The method generates the network calculus model from the algorithm parameters. The network calculus model models worst-case performance for the network implementation. The method generates model parameters in a second standard format for a network simulation model from the design data. The method generates the network simulation model from the model parameters. The network simulation model models probabilistic performance for the network implementation. The method executes the network calculus model to determine network calculus results. The method executes the network simulation model to determine network simulation results. The method determines a system policy difference between the network calculus results, the network simulation results, and the system policy.

  • Patent number: 9413552
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide a ring supervisor operating as a server for maintaining and allocating addresses for devices in a ring topology. The ring supervisor may obtain an ordered list of devices in the ring by sending a data collection frame that passes through each device around the ring with each device appending its preconfigured address information. The ring supervisor may then operate to apply the addressing provided by each device, or alternatively, allocate different addresses to each device from a separate pool. As a result, control program software for ring devices can be developed using a general pool of addresses without requiring specific knowledge of actual addresses. Also, if a device requires replacement, the device may be replaced without requiring modification to the control program to provide the address for the replacement device.
