Patent number: 8366709Abstract: A bipolar electrosurgical instrument has a pair of pivotable juxtaposed jaw members and a locking mechanism operatively associated with a second of the jaw members. The locking mechanism has a first position engaged with the second jaw member for preventing movement of the second jaw member between an axially aligned orientation and at least one angled orientation, and a second position. The second position is disengaged from the second jaw member allowing for movement of the second jaw member between the axially aligned orientation and the at least one angled orientation. The instrument has an actuation mechanism operatively connected to a first of the jaw members with the actuation mechanism operable to move the first jaw member between an axially aligned first orientation and at least one angled orientation. An articulation knob is operatively associated with the locking mechanism and effectuates independent operation of the locking and actuation mechanisms.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2011Date of Patent: February 5, 2013Assignee: Covidien AGInventors: David A. Schechter, Stephen G. Solga, Duane E. Kerr, Scott D. Nelson, Mark R. Henault, Joseph D. Bucciaglia

Patent number: 5425470Abstract: A permeation resistant closure for a mutlilayer fuel tank. A barrier layer within a closure plug aligns with the barrier layer of a fuel tank wall to form an integral and uninterrupted permeation resistant barrier surface.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1993Date of Patent: June 20, 1995Assignee: Ford Motor CompanyInventors: Daniel M. Duhaime, Mark R. Henault

Patent number: 5330068Abstract: A fuel closure assembly is especially useful in multi-layer fuel tanks. An opening in a fuel tank wall having an externally threaded nipple forms a planar sealing surface. An seal is centered about a radial surface of the nipple. A plate closes the opening and is retained in position by a threaded ring.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1993Date of Patent: July 19, 1994Assignee: Ford Motor CompanyInventors: Daniel M. Duhaime, Mark R. Patent number: 5308427Abstract: A method of attaching a member to the interior of a blow-molded plastic fuel tank wall. The wall is molded from a pliable parison. An inwardly directed projection is formed integral with the wall. The projection has an inner surface and an outer surface. The outer surface forms a cavity receiving a core. The core is inserted within the cavity while the parison is partially pliable and fuzes to the wall. The projection is inserted through an aperture in the member and heated. The softened projection is squashed to secure the member to the wall.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1992Date of Patent: May 3, 1994Assignee: Ford Motor CompanyInventors: Daniel M.
