  • Patent number: 9103504
Abstract: The invention relates to a machine for coating the interior of a pipe. The machine can be pulled through and positioned within a pipe or pipeline by a internal pipe tractor, and can be used to apply viscous liquids, including two part epoxies and urethanes, to the interior wall of the pipe. The machine is typically used for the overcoating of portions of pipe having defects in their internal coatings, for example, at their girth welds.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20060251590
Abstract: The present invention relates to oral compositions comprising a ?(1-3) ?(1-4) glucan and one, or more than one compound of interest. In particular, the present invention provides an oral composition comprising an effective amount of a ?(1-3) ?(1-4) glucan and an effective amount of one, or more than one of an antibacterial agent, a botanical extract, and a flavouring agent, and also provides a method of using this composition for maintaining fresh breath in a subject over a prolonged period of time.

  • Publication number: 20060188443
Abstract: A solid oral diagnostic test meal is provided that contains a polysaccharide, wherein the oral diagnostic test meal provides a medically controlled quantity of glycemic carbohydrate after being ingested by a vertebrate subject. In addition, methods and kits are provided for using the diagnostic test meal to monitor postprandial glucose to screen insulin levels and/or diagnose disorders of carbohydrate metabolism, to manage subjects being treated with antidiabetic agents, to self-diagnose diabetes and self-manage diet and antidiabetic drug dosage, and to calculate the glycemic index of a test food.

  • Publication number: 20060121131
Abstract: The present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising a ? (1-3)? (1-4) glucan and a pharmaceutically active agent or a botanical extract. A method to extract and purify cereal ?-glucan is also described. The high purity of the cereal ?-glucan obtained according to the present invention allows for the preparation of clear, colourless viscous liquid preparations. These liquid preparations are stable to gelling effects when kept at ambient temperatures and low ash concentrations, and can be used to prepare the pharmaceutical compositions of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20060122149
Abstract: A novel method to extract and purify cereal ?-glucan is described. Cereal ? glucans are distinctive polymers of glucose differentiated from other polymers not only by their source but also by their physicochemical properties. The high purity of the cereal ?-glucan obtained according to the present invention allows for the preparation of clear, colourless viscous liquid preparations. These liquid preparations are stable to gelling effects when kept at ambient temperatures and low ash concentrations. Compositions comprising ? (1-3) ? (1-4) glucan and a freezing point depressant are also, described.

  • Publication number: 20050042243
Abstract: A simple and efficient method for the production of stable, clear, high-potency oat extracts is disclosed. The method employs the use of differential dissociation constants and ultrafiltration to stabilise extracts, prevent hazing, and prevent the loss of functional activity as an anti-irritant and anti-oxidant. Also disclosed are compositions of oat extracts derived from whole oat grains and oatmeal. Further disclosed are compositions of oat extracts for use in cosmetic, nutraceutical, therapeutic medical and veterinary preparations.

  • Publication number: 20050031674
Abstract: Cereal ?(1?3) ?(1?3) glucan is used as a film or coating agent to produce clear, edible, biodegradable, delivery, lubricating, and protecting agents. Cereal ?(1?3) ?(1?4) glucans are distinctive polymers of glucose differentiated from other polymers by not only their source but also their physicochemical properties. The ?(1?3) ?(1?4) forms a matrix to sequester other materials, such as pharmaceutical, medical and therapeutic agents, flavours, fragrances. The technology has applications to essential oils and non-aqueous materials that are rendered deliverable by the ?(1?3) ?(1?4) glucan. The ?(1?3) ?(1?4) glucan films described may be consumed whereby they dissolve in the mouth in a controlled manner and may be used for the delivery of pharmaceutical, medical or confectionery products.

  • Patent number: 5212156
Abstract: Compositions and methods for modulating SRIF activity as well as enhancing the reproductive performance and immunological function in vertebrates are disclosed. Compositions containing SRIF-related peptides or antibodies thereto can be administered to animals to modulate endogenous SRIF-like activity. The SRIF-related peptides can be linked to a carrier such as ovalbumin, and administered in an Al(OH).sub.3 adjuvant, to enhance the immunogenicity of the SRIF-related peptides.
