  • Patent number: 8049171
Abstract: A sensor device of the type for sensing incident radiation by charge generation, has a substrate within which charge may be generated by incident radiation. A plurality of electrodes are arranged to cover an image area of the substrate and are selectively connectable to supplied DC voltages such that an electric field is created across the image area to sweep charge across multiple electrodes from the image area to an output. The voltage applied to one of the electrodes may be a voltage of a level so as to present a barrier to charge within the image area. The sensor thus has a variable sample area defined by the barrier voltage level.

  • Publication number: 20070041017
Abstract: A system for time resolved spectroscopy comprises a CCD device arranged to receive a time varying spectrum. Time resolved spectroscopy is the analysis of a spectrum that varies with time due to any cause. The variation with time of the spectrum may be due, for example, to (i) changes of the spectrum from a given sample space with time (such as due to emission decay); and (ii) changes in the spectrum as successive portions of a sample space are sampled (such as laser scanning microscopy). The CCD device comprises an array of photosites arranged to detect the time varying spectrum and to produce signal charge representative of the spectrum, and one or more CCD multiplication registers arranged to receive the signal charge and to provide charge multiplication. An enhancement of speed and sensitivity is given by a storage area which receives the signal charge in parallel from the array of photosites to provide the charge in serial to the one or more multiplication registers.

  • Publication number: 20060231738
Abstract: A CCD device includes multiplication elements arranged so as to multiply charge by clocking with a high voltage. An additional region beneath the high voltage electrode is so doped in relation to at least the preceding electrode as to have a higher depleted charge density than under the preceding electrode. This assists in preventing high energy electrodes from encountering the silicon surface of the semiconductor.

  • Publication number: 20060112889
Abstract: The present invention is a method of controlling noxious plant species. The method comprises identifying a target area in a foraging area, selecting a treatment period, selecting an ungulate specie, providing an animal feed supplement at a first deployment location in the target area, and introducing the selected ungulate specie to the animal feed supplement in the target area during the treatment period. The target is considered such because it includes a noxious plant specie. During the treatment period, the selected ungulate specie will interact with the noxious plant specie in the target area. For example, the ungulates interact with the noxious plant specie by eating the noxious plant specie and/or by trampling the noxious plant specie. The animal feed supplement is highly-palatable, portable, self-limiting, attracts the ungulate specie to the target area, and increases the length of stay of the ungulate specie in the target area.

  • Publication number: 20060047629
Abstract: Managing terminology among multiple users. Terminology data relating to one or more projects in an organization is received from one or more users. The received terminology data is stored in a central memory area associated with the one or more users. The central memory area is accessible by one or more of the users. The one or more users are allowed to access and use the terminology data stored in the central memory area according to a permissions structure for managing the stored terminology data as a function of a project associated with each user.

  • Publication number: 20060047689
Abstract: Developing terminology for use within an organization. Data representing a term is received from a user. Data representing one or more projects to be associated with the term is also received from the user. The received data representing the term is linked with the received data representing the one or more projects in a memory area. A glossary for the one or more projects is generated. The generated glossary includes the term.

  • Publication number: 20050204531
Abstract: A process for replacing a first soft-top of a convertible-top of a motor vehicle with a second soft-top includes removing the first soft-top from the convertible-top. The first soft-top is separated from a headliner of the convertible-top. The second soft-top is selected. The second soft-top has a window larger than a window of the first soft-top. A plurality of receptacles are fixed to an edge of the larger window. The second soft-top is attached to the motor vehicle. The larger window is connected directly to the headliner by engaging headliner anchors with the receptacles fixed to the larger window.

  • Publication number: 20050193955
Abstract: The present invention, in one embodiment, is a method of reducing ungulate pressure on burned sub-areas within a mosaic burn area. The method comprises identifying an unburned sub-area within the mosaic burn area and providing at least one highly palatable, portable, self-limiting, animal feed supplement in the first unburned sub-area. The highly palatable, portable, self-limiting, animal feed supplement attracts the ungulates to the first unburned sub-area and increases the length of the ungulates' stay in the first unburned sub-area. The ungulates are attracted to the first unburned sub-area by the supplement in preference to the burned sub-area with new growth.

  • Publication number: 20050081792
Abstract: The present invention, in one embodiment, is a method of using a plurality of domestic ungulates to precondition a foraging area to enhance the attractiveness of the foraging area to a plurality of wild ungulates. The method comprises selecting the foraging area to be preconditioned, selecting a target period, selecting a preconditioning period, and providing at least one highly palatable, portable, self-limiting, animal feed supplement in the foraging area during the preconditioning period. The target period is when the plurality of wild ungulates uses the foraging area once it has been preconditioned. The preconditioning period is when the plurality of domesticated ungulates preconditions (i.e., forages) the foraging area for use by the wild ungulates during the target period.

  • Patent number: 6228048
Abstract: A colonic irrigation apparatus for cleaning bodily orifices such as the large intestine, which converts pressurized water from a building's water supply into a gravity flow and which provides precise temperature control even at extremely low flow rates. Water temperature is regulated by alternating the flow from separate hot and cold water inlets around a preset temperature set point, and sending the water into a filter. The filter blends the water, evening the temperature, whereupon the water passes through a temperature safety valve and on to an elevated pressure-to-gravity converter. Pressure is regulated by the converter, which receives the pressurized water, drains most of it under the flow of gravity to the patient at a preset flow rate, and vents the excess pressure by diverting a variable flow of the incoming water down to a drain.
