  • Patent number: 10902052
Abstract: Systems and methods for identifying search results in response to a search query are presented. More particularly, images are selected as search results, at least in part, according to an attractiveness value associated with the images. Upon receiving a search query, a set of content is identified according to the query intent of the search query and includes at least one image. The identified set of content is ordered according an overall score determined according to relevance and, in the case of the at least one image, according to an attractiveness value. A search results generator selects items from the set of content according to their overall scores, including the at least one image, generates a search results page, and returns the search results page to the requesting party.

  • Patent number: 5751844
Abstract: In an image acquisition system, which produces at least one image, each of which is scorable with reference to at least one image quality criterion, a control system is provided for optimizing the image quality criterion. Typically, the image quality criterion is at least in-part established by an exposure parameter. When considered as an apparatus, the present invention includes a number of components which cooperate together to automatically and continually adjust the value of the exposure parameter to optimize the image quality criterion. An image acquisition means is provided to obtain one or more acquired images under selected exposure characteristics. A transform system is provided for receiving the one or more acquired images and developing an energy distribution map, or histogram, of at least a portion of the one or more acquired images.

  • Patent number: 5664146
Abstract: An operator to host communications interface for managing a manual data storage library. A host processor controls Peripheral Data Storage Devices (PDSDs) in the library. Displayed operator interaction fields are presented by a graphical user interface on the screen of a display device connected to a library manager controller. Library manager program code loaded in program memory in the library manager controller is provided with interface logic, for communicating with external devices, as well as the PDSDs through the host processor. The operator communications interface is an integral component of the library and thus may be used for: alerting an operator of the need to mount or demount a particular data medium; alerting an operator with coherent and succinct messages thus improving the quality of messages provided to operators; and alerting an operator with a minimum number of messages.
