  • Patent number: 9011169
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a connector, an array of connectors, a method for manufacturing the connectors, and a method for using the connectors. The connectors are capable of carrying electrical or electric signal and include geometries to operate in holding, latching, or locking applications. The connector can include a contact housing formed by a first electrically conductive housing, a second electrically conductive housing and a housing sealing component at least partially isolating said first and second electrically conductive housings from each other. A body, such as a pin, a rod, or an elongated member, is provided. A first electrically conductive spring is located in a first groove and a second electrically conductive spring is located in a second groove inside the contact housing. Wherein a first electrical path and a second electrical path are formed when the body is inserted into the contact housing. In other examples, more than two electrical paths can be provided.

  • Publication number: 20150079349
Abstract: A hard faced surface comprises a metal substrate. Inserts are attached to the substrate as a covering layer on the substrate. Each insert comprises a thermally stable polycrystalline diamond (TSP) body (or polycrystalline diamond or cubic boron nitride) having a plan section, a contact surface and a flat top surface. A boundary coating on the ultra-hard body renders the body wettable by first braze material. A tungsten carbide cap is brazed with said first braze material to at least the top surface of the TSP block. The inserts are brazed to the substrate in a closely packed side-by-side formation with a second braze material that penetrates the gaps between the inserts and between the contact surface of the bodies and the metal substrate. The tungsten carbide caps of the inserts provide a gauge for the hard faced surface, which caps are ground in a finishing step exposing the caps and providing the hard faced surface with a desired dimension including an amount of the thickness of the caps.

  • Patent number: 8954545
Abstract: A method of determining compatibility of a virtual machine or virtual machine disk file with a host, including a storage host, is disclosed. A lookup matrix is created to provide a fast compatibility lookup. To create the lookup matrix, computing object properties are retrieved from each of the plurality of computing objects. The computing object properties include resource requirements of each of the plurality of computing objects. Further, host properties are retrieved from each of the plurality of hosts. The method further includes creating host logical groups of a subset of the plurality of hosts having substantially same host properties and creating a plurality of computing object logical groups of a subject of the plurality of computing objects having substantially same computing object properties. The lookup matrix answers whether each member of a selected computing object logical group can be transferred to a selected host logical group.

  • Publication number: 20140260644
Abstract: The present invention relates to a modular system for sensing pressure and/or temperature. The system uses a piezoresistive transducer that contacts a fluid, a transducer housing for the piezoresistive transducer, a conductor tube, a transition housing, a cable, an adapter housing, a flex conductor, an electronic housing, wherein the transducer housing, the conductor tube, the transition housing, the cable, the adapter housing, the flex conductor, and the electronic housing protect a conductive path for electrical signal(s) from the piezoresistive transducer to the electronic housing. The system may use cable to couple the transition housing to the adapter housing sufficient in length to keep the transducer at the site of interest and the more sensitive electronic circuits away from high pressure, temperature, and/or RF/EMI environments such as that associated with down-hole drilling. In another embodiment, some or all the conductive path is multilayered wire.

  • Patent number: 8752753
Abstract: A method of construction of a tungsten carbide/TSP insert for hard facing a wear surface comprises the steps of forming a tungsten carbide body (12) in a mold. After the molding step, a channel section slot (24) or pocket (24?) is created in the body before it has hardened substantially. The body is then heat-treated to harden it. A TSP body (32) is fitted in the slot/pocket (24/24?) so that it is a close sliding fit between the sides (18) of the slot, and is of the same depth as the slot. The TSP is (preferably) brazed into the slot. The insert has pips (30) on its edges (18) to facilitate welding to a substrate prior to a final brazing step.

  • Patent number: 8650694
Abstract: A pipeline pig includes a venturi and a modulating valve located rearward of the inlet side of the venturi. When the valve is in the open position, a predetermined maximum bypass flow is allowed through the venturi. The closed position allows a predetermined minimum bypass flow. The valve may be a poppet-style valve or a frusto-conical shaped stopper. The stopper has sufficient mass and/or aerodynamic drag to overcome the spring force holding the valve in the open position. When the pig stalls, the valve closes and the stopper chokes bypass flow through the venturi. When the pig starts running again, the valve opens as inertia forces the stopper away from the inlet side of the venturi. Also, as friction of the pig increases due to changes in the internal diameter of the pipeline or accumulation of debris ahead of the pig, increased airflow across the valve creates drag sufficient to partially overcome the spring force, thus keeping the pig moving at a desirable rate of travel.
