  • Patent number: 8457961
Abstract: A system detects a speech segment that may include unvoiced, fully voiced, or mixed voice content. The system includes a window function that passes signals within a programmed aural frequency range while substantially blocking signals above and below the programmed aural frequency range. A frequency converter converts the signals passing within the programmed aural frequency range into a plurality of frequency bins. A background voice detector estimates the strength of a background speech segment relative to the noise of selected portions of the aural spectrum. A noise estimator estimates a maximum distribution of noise to an average of an acoustic noise power of some of the plurality of frequency bins. A voice detector compares the strength of a desired speech segment to a maximum of an output of the background voice detector and an output of the noise estimator.

  • Publication number: 20130110867
Abstract: Large amounts of data resulting from periodic sampling and capture of data corresponding to variable operational parameters of one or more systems, such as a plurality of vehicles, and stored in a large number of rows of data corresponding to the number of captured samples are summarized in an analytically meaningful way by simply counting the instances of particular values of the operational parameters of interest in the form of a histogram and stored as a single row of data. The reduction in number of rows of data allows acceleration of processing of later queries by a factor of one thousand (assuming an average trip length of ten minutes) or more.

  • Publication number: 20130030801
Abstract: The suppression of off-axis audio in an audio environment is provided. Off-axis audio may be considered audio that does not originate from a region of interest. The off-axis audio is suppressed by comparing a phase difference between signals from two microphones to a target slope of the phase difference between signals originating from the region of interest. The target slope can be adapted to allow the region of interest to move with the location of a human speaker such as a driver.

  • Publication number: 20120083270
Abstract: A system and methodology that facilitates user friendly and/or dynamic femtocell access provisioning based on Short Message Service (SMS) communication is provided. In particular, the system can enable users to update and/or view a femto access control list associated with a femtocell by employing SMS messages. Moreover, the system can receive a SMS message from a user equipment (UE) requesting an action (e.g., add, remove, and/or view an entry within a femto access control list) associated with femtocell access and identify a femtocell associated with the UE. Further, the system can analyze the SMS, request confirmation to perform the action, and execute the action on receiving confirmation from the UE.
