  • Scorch retarder for halogenated elastomers

    Abstract: In accordance with the present invention there is provided a vulcanizable halogenated butyl rubber compound having an improved degree of scorch resistance without causing unreasonably long cure time. The compound is characterized in that it comprises a retarder conforming structurally to ##STR1## wherein X is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl andn is an integer from 0 to 4.The physical properties of the compound are substantially unchanged by the incorporation of the retarder.
