The device may be resource constrained such as having limited memory, processor, power, or other resources for execution of applications. An application may be transitioned to a background state and at least a portion of the data associated with that application may be compressed, freeing up memory. While in the background state, notifications from other applications may be processed by a notification module on behalf of the application in the background state.
