  • Patent number: 7311846
Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating ferrous metal particles from non-ferrous metal particles suspended in a liquid, such as a coolant from a machining operation, in which mixed particle containing liquid is discharged across a horizontal, non-magnetic separating surface; the magnetic ferrous metal particles are captured by a magnetic force exerted by an array of parallel magnets disposed underneath the separating surface, the non-magnetic non-ferrous metal particles are washed by the liquid into a collecting flume from where they can be passed to a filtering station for removal from the liquid, and the captured ferrous metal particles are scraped from the separating surface and conveyed to a ferrous metal discharge by a scraper conveyor which moves transversely to the discharge direction of the liquid.

  • Publication number: 20070274687
Abstract: A video encoder (100) comprises a receiver (101) which receives an uncompressed video signal. An encoding element (103) generates a compressed video signal in accordance with a compression algorithm, such as an MPEG-2 encoding algorithm. In addition, a feature point processor (105) generates feature point data (105) in response to the uncompressed signal, and an output processor (107) generates an output video signal which comprises the compressed video signal and the feature point data. The output signal is received by a receiver (201) of a video signal processor (200). An extraction processor (203) extracts the feature point data and feeds it to a video processor unit (207) which processes the compressed video signal in response to the feature point data.

  • Publication number: 20060283189
Abstract: A combustor has a flow sleeve and a flow liner defining a generally axial flow direction of compressor discharge air toward combustor burners. A casing is secured to the forward end of the flow sleeve defining an annular plenum along the interior of the flow sleeve. Openings through the flow sleeve supply compressor discharge air into the plenum where the air changes direction for flow through apertures into and generally coaxially with the free air stream. The axial injection minimizes or eliminates energy losses due to cross flow injection within the axial air stream while continuing to cool the liner.

  • Publication number: 20050173327
Abstract: A side seal of a pressure filter includes first and second sealing members, a mechanical mechanism, and an actuator. The first sealing member is moveable relative to the second sealing member. The mechanical mechanism moves the fist sealing member to engage or disengage with the second sealing member. The actuator uses the mechanical mechanism to move the first sealing member to engage or disengage with the second sealing member.

  • Publication number: 20050093214
Abstract: The damper system includes a ceramic composite shroud in part defining the hot gas path of a turbine and a spring-biased piston and damper block which bears against the backside surface of the shroud to tune the vibratory response of the shroud relative to pressure pulses of the hot gas path in a manner to avoid near or resonant frequency response. The damper block has projections specifically located to bear against the shroud to dampen the frequency response of the shroud and provide a thermal insulating layer between the shroud and the damper block.

  • Publication number: 20020088480
Abstract: A system and related method for cleaning structures including structures with interior surfaces. The system includes a mixing chamber for selectively combining a cleaning gas and liquid droplets together so that the droplets are entrained in the gas. The combination is directed to the structure to be cleaned. The velocity of the gas combined with the density of the liquid droplets provides a washing momentum to effect removal of particulate matter from the structure. The system also includes a condenser and a separator for separating the liquid from the gas after cleaning. A filter is employed to isolate and measure the quantity of particulate removed from the cooling circuit. A rotameter forms part of the system and is used to measure the accumulated quantity of liquid suitable for effecting a satisfactory cleaning. The system and related cleaning method may be used to clean the cooling system of a rotor bucket.
