    Abstract: A method and composition is provided for application of probiotic microorganisms to a surface to prevent contamination by pathogenic microorganisms. The probiotic microorganisms may be bacteria, yeast or mold, such as bacteria of the Lactobacillus genus. Application of probiotic microorganisms may be to surfaces such as of the hands, or to other surfaces such as tables, equipment, clothing and the like. Upon application, the probiotic microorganism may display competitive exclusion of the pathogenic microorganism.
