  • Publication number: 20110046768
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method are described for determining a characteristic of an electric cable using THz radiation. The THz radiation may non-destructively penetrate a carbon black semiconductor layer to detect a THz spectrum of a cross-linked polyethylene insulator. The THz spectrum can be analyzed to determine the characteristics of the electric cable, including concentrations of polar chemical by-products in the XLPE insulator and, and to control the production process of the electric cables.
