Abstract: A hinged chimney cover apparatus includes a lid portion attached to a base portion via at least one hinge mechanism. Each hinge mechanism is integrated with a spring device configured to reduce the amount of force needed to open and close the lid. Additionally, by counterbalancing the weight of the lid with the torque of the spring, the lid is configured to remain stationary at certain open positions. This facilitates the ability of a user to easily access an interior portion of a chimney or flue to which the chimney cover apparatus is attached to perform maintenance or cleaning tasks therein.
