  • Patent number: 7810570
Abstract: A shock tool is adapted to a bottom hole tool assembly for isolating a zone in a subterranean formation accessed by a wellbore. Fracturing fluid such as nitrogen is accumulated at fracturing pressures uphole of the shock tool for subsequent and rapid release to the formation. The tool assembly can be suspended from a conveyance string in which fluid is accumulated for shock release through a valve of the shock tool and through an injection tool to the zone isolated by the injection tool. After a first zone is shocked, the tool assembly can be moved to a new zone, or multiple shocks can be applied cyclically at the selected zone.

  • Publication number: 20070295508
Abstract: A shock tool is adapted to a bottom hole tool assembly for isolating a zone in a subterranean formation accessed by a wellbore. Fracturing fluid such as nitrogen is accumulated at fracturing pressures uphole of the shock tool for subsequent and rapid release to the formation. Coal bed methane seams are particularly well suited to such a shock fracturing methodology.

  • Patent number: 6609565
Abstract: A trolley hoisting system for use in a rig has a derrick mounted to the rig, a winch line extending from an upper end of the derrick, and a traveling block located at one end of the winch line. An injector trolley has at least one cavity for allowing the winch line passage therethrough and is adapted to engage the traveling block so that the winch line may be used to raise and lower the injector trolley along the derrick. A lock arrangement for fixing the injector trolley to the derrick at an upper end thereof allows the traveling block to extend below the injector trolley for performing other desired tasks on the rig.

  • Publication number: 20030098150
Abstract: An improved mast arrangement for a mobile multi-function rig has a winch line extending from an upper end of the mast and a traveling block supported thereon. A trolley mountable on the mast is adapted for coupling to the traveling block. The trolley works primarily as a guide for a given load, and therefore is of a lightweight design since loads mounted to the trolley are transferred directly to the traveling block and the supporting winch line. The trolley provides the capability to readily switch between various rig operations, including manipulating coiled tubing with an injector, setting surface casing using a top drive, operating the winch and traveling block for joined pipe operations, and interchanging between top drive and joined pipe operations without removing the top drive from the mast or rig.

  • Patent number: 6431286
Abstract: An injector arrangement for use in a rig has a movable carrier, a derrick tiltably mounted to the carrier, and a trolley capable of sliding along the derrick. An injector cradle is movable along the trolley in at least a plane perpendicular to the derrick and is pivotally mounted beneath the trolley. An injector is supported at its upper end from the cradle. At least two hydraulic cylinders are supported at one end by the derrick and are engaged at an opposed end to a lower end of the injector for rotating and tilting the injector relative to the trolley and derrick.

  • Patent number: 6003598
Abstract: A mobile hybrid rig adapted to run coiled tubing (CT) and wireline equipment for oil and gas wells can also accommodate conventional joined pipe for drilling of shallow wells. The rig incorporates: a chassis and power unit for rig transport; an adjustable platform with a number of hydraulically operated stabilizers for alignment to wellhead; a mast pivotable into slanted or vertical positions for CT operation with a Blow Out Preventer (BOP) and an injector; a cradle for supporting the injector and aligning it to the wellhead; a CT reel cartridge assembly adapted to running currently available CT reels; a winching facility for manipulating wireline equipment; and a control cabin for managing rig activities.
