  • Patent number: 12382113
Abstract: A method and system method of providing new content as part of a first broadcast signal being transmitted as a second broadcast signal includes receiving a first broadcast signal that is broadcast from a first transmitter, extracting and storing a portion of the data content from the received first broadcast signal. The method further includes receiving a marker stream that identifies a splice point in the first broadcast signal while providing media content from the received first broadcast signal as part of a second broadcast signal. In response to the identification of the splice point in the first broadcast signal, providing the extracted data content in place of the media content received as part of the second broadcast signal until a determination to end providing the extracted data content is made. The method further includes resuming providing media content from the first broadcast signal when the determination is made.

  • Publication number: 20250226939
Abstract: Operations for a data normalization server include augmenting an emergency event notification from a regional emergency notification concentrator with situational awareness data for an emergency event characterized in the emergency event notification to provide an augmented emergency notification and providing a broadcast dispatch data object (BDDO) that is generated based on the augmented emergency notification to an Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) transport encoder. The BDDO includes a dispatch message with data characterizing the emergency event notification and the situational awareness data. The operations for the data normalization server also include generating an application programming interface (API) call for an ATSC transport encoder. The ATSC transport encoder encapsulates a portion of the BDDO in a broadcast stream for an ATSC broadcaster responsive to the API call.

  • Publication number: 20250227343
Abstract: Operations of an Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) receiver include receiving an ATSC broadcast signal, the ATSC broadcast signal including signaling characterizing content of a plurality of channels, wherein a dispatch channel includes dispatch messages. The operations include analyzing a low level signaling (LLS) table for the dispatch channel to determine whether a dispatch message has been added to the ATSC broadcast signal and selecting a mode of operation based on the analyzing. The modes of operation include a sleep mode if a version of the LLS table for the dispatch channel has not changed and a dispatch mode in response to detecting a change in the version of the LLS table. In the dispatch mode, dispatch messages not destined for the ATSC receiver are ignored and an emergency operation is actuated in response determining that a particular dispatch message is destined for the ATSC receiver.

  • Patent number: 11924260
Abstract: A method and system of providing a second broadcast signal from a first broadcast signal is described. The method includes receiving a broadcast signal containing media content and data content and selecting, from the data content, a first portion containing control and configuration and a second portion containing replacement content. The method further includes converting the first portion and the second portion into a multicast internet protocol stream and processing the replacement content as a second broadcast signal using the control and configuration information. The system includes a transceiver that receives a broadcast signal, selects a first portion and a second portion of the data content, and converts the first portion of the data content and the second portion of the data content into a multicast internet protocol stream. The system further includes a gateway device that processes the replacement content using the control and configuration information.

  • Patent number: 10587907
Abstract: A system for selectively controlling the distribution of media content to at least one client device over a plurality of distribution channels is provided. The system includes one or more broadcast management processors configured to receive feedback data including a usage metric corresponding to at least one of a characteristic associated with the at least one client device and a characteristic associated with at least one of the plurality of distribution channels. The broadcast management processor is further configured to determine an alternate data rate associated with at least one of the plurality of distribution channels based on the received usage metric, and generate at least one distribution control signal indicative of the alternate data rate.
