  • Publication number: 20070189018
Abstract: A curing device for curing an ink, varnish, adhesive, and/or adhesive with a lamination film on a web includes a curing housing and a control system. The curing housing includes a xenon light source and an outlet for light emitted by the light source. The control system is configured to calculate a dosage of light applied to the ink, varnish, adhesive, and/or adhesive with a lamination film. The control system is also configured to adjust or maintain the dosage of light applied to the ink, varnish, adhesive, and/or adhesive with a lamination film based on the calculated dosage of light.

Abstract: A curing device for curing an ink, varnish, adhesive, and/or adhesive with a lamination film on a web includes a curing housing and a control system. The curing housing includes a light or electron source and an outlet for light or electrons emitted by the light or electron source. The control system is configured to calculate a dosage of light or energy applied to the ink, varnish, adhesive, and/or adhesive with a lamination film. The control system is also configured to adjust or maintain the dosage of light or energy applied to the ink, varnish, adhesive, and/or adhesive with a lamination film based on the calculated dosage of light or energy.

  • Patent number: 7128429
Abstract: A heat sink containing a woolen material is provided for a band-pass filter in a curing lamp. Light having a particular wavelength(s) is transmitted through the band-pass filter and into the heat sink whereas light having other wavelengths is reflected by the band-pass filter. The heat sink absorbs the light transmitted through the band-pass filter and dissipates the heat associated therewith.

  • Patent number: 6942367
Abstract: A UV curing lamp is provided which includes a curved, reflective surface which redirects incident light toward a band-pass filter while bypassing the lamp. A heat sink is provided for the band-pass filter, the heat sink containing a woolen material such as aluminum wool. A portion of the light is reflected by the curved reflective surface and is transmitted through the band-pass filter and into the heat sink, the remainder of the light being reflected by the band-pass filter. The heat sink absorbs the light transmitted through the band-pass filter and dissipates the heat associated therewith.

  • Patent number: 6883936
Abstract: A shutter apparatus for a curing lamp housing is provided. The shutter apparatus may be pulled out of the housing along ribs. The ribs slide with respect to recesses formed in rails of the shutter apparatus. When the shutter apparatus is pulled out of the housing, easy access to fasteners holding the shutters onto drive and pivot shafts enables the shutters to be readily replaced. A method detailing such replacement is also provided. A drive mechanism enables the shutters to be opened and closed in unison.

  • Patent number: 6834984
Abstract: A UV curing lamp is provided which includes a curved and reflective surface which may be a cold mirror and may redirect incident UV light toward a band-pass filter. The UV light may be reflected by the curved, reflective surface and transmitted through the band-pass filter whereas the IR and visible light may pass through the curved, reflective surface. The UV, IR, and visible light reflected by shutters and direct UV, IR, and visible light from the lamp are separated by the band-pass filter which transmits the UV light and reflects the IR and visible light.

  • Patent number: 5811784
Abstract: A portable dataform reader includes a large F# optic assembly that provides a working range from about 2.5" to at least 8.5" in front of the reader while maintaining a broad field of view. The reader is capable of capturing a high signal to noise ratio image in under 0.01 seconds thereby making the reader highly tolerant to hand jitter. To accommodate the large F# optic and short exposure period, the reader is provided with an efficient high intensity uniform illumination module.
