  • Publication number: 20060265368
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for measuring subjective user reaction concerning a particular document includes a first icon incorporated into a particular document. The first icon becomes viewable at least partially on or near the document independent of input from a user subsequent to the user accessing the particular document and solicits a subjective user reaction to the particular document from the user. The first icon receives user input indicating a desire to provide a subjective user reaction to the particular document, and the user input causes a second icon to become viewable at least partially on or near the particular document. The second icon provides the user an opportunity to provide a subjective user reaction to the particular document. The system also includes software associated with the second icon that receives the subjective user reaction to the particular document and directs the subjective user reaction to a predetermined destination for reporting to an owner of the document.

  • Publication number: 20060248188
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a system is provided for measuring page-specific user feedback concerning each of a plurality of particular web pages. A user-selectable element is viewable on and solicits page-specific user feedback concerning each such web page upon initial display of the web page, the element appearing identically and behaving consistently on each such web page. Software associated with the element is operable to receive the feedback concerning the web page for reporting, the feedback comprising one or more page-specific subjective ratings of the web page and one or more associated page-specific open-ended comments concerning the web page, the feedback allowing an interested party to access page-specific subjective ratings and associated page-specific open-ended comments across the plurality of web pages to identify one or more web pages for which the feedback is notable.

  • Patent number: 7085820
Abstract: A system (10) for reporting to a website owner (12) user reactions to one or more particular web pages (28) of a website (26) includes a database (36) containing user reaction information for each page (28). The user reaction information for a particular page (28) reflects the subjective user reactions to the particular page (28) received from users (16) that have accessed the particular page (28). A reporting module (46) coupled to the database (36) generates one or more reports (100) using the user reaction information for communication to the website owner (12). Each of the reports (100) reflects the subjective user reactions to one or more particular pages (28). User reactions to a particular page (28) may be received using user reaction measurement software (30, 32, 34) associated with a viewable icon (50).

  • Publication number: 20050240618
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for measuring subjective user reaction concerning a particular web page comprising an embedded document includes a first icon viewable on the particular web page independent of input from a user subsequent to the user accessing the particular web page. The particular web page includes a document embedded in the particular web page. The first icon solicits a subjective user reaction to the particular web page comprising the document embedded in the particular web page from the user independent of input from the user subsequent to the user accessing the particular web page. The first icon receives user input indicating a desire to provide a subjective user reaction to the particular web page including the document embedded in the particular web page. The user input causes a second icon to become viewable on the particular web page.

  • Patent number: 6785717
Abstract: A method of incorporating user reaction measurement software (30, 32, 34) into a particular web page (28) of a website (26) includes receiving an icon selection from a website owner (12) specifying a viewable icon (50) to appear on the particular page (28). The icon (50) has associated user reaction measurement software that includes a call to a directory containing an associated script. The icon (50) is incorporated into the particular page (28) and the directory containing the script is generated for communication together with the particular page (28). The call is also incorporated into software of the particular page (28) such that the user reaction measurement software is able to receive a subjective user reaction to the particular page (28), using the script, from a website user (16) that has accessed the particular page (28).
