  • Patent number: 9173796
Abstract: A bed comprises a fixed width deck section, a wing movably coupled to the fixed width section, a leadscrew having a rotational axis, a leadscrew driver coupled to the leadscrew for rotating the leadscrew about its axis, and a release unit. The release unit is coupled to the wing and configured to move between a) an engaged position in which the release unit engages the lead screw and moves therealong as the leadscrew rotates about the rotational axis thereby causing the wing to translate relative to the fixed width section; and b) a disengaged position in which the release unit is disengaged from the leadscrew.

  • Publication number: 20150128347
Abstract: A bed comprises a deck section having a width and left and right outboard deck edges. Left side and right side wings are movably coupled to the deck section. The bed also includes a left leadscrew receiver mounted on the left wing, a right leadscrew receiver mounted on the right wing, and left and right motor assemblies both mounted on the deck section. A left leadscrew is coupled to the left motor assembly and to the left leadscrew receiver. A right leadscrew is coupled to the right motor assembly and to the right leadscrew receiver. Motor operation is capable of moving the wing to which it is coupled between a deployed position in which the lateral extremity of the wing is outboard of the respective outboard edge of the deck section and a stored position in which the lateral extremity of the wing is inboard of its deployed position.

  • Publication number: 20140179840
Abstract: Polymer compositions and molded articles made from the polymer compositions are described which contain a high strength polyoxymethylene polymer, an emission control agent, and at least one light stabilizer. The polymer composition not only has excellent resistance to ultraviolet light but also exhibits low formaldehyde emission. In one embodiment, the emission control agent comprises allantoin while the light stabilizer comprises a hindered amine.

  • Publication number: 20140131420
Abstract: Various implementations of the invention provide for a one-piece surgical stapling apparatus that includes a stapler head and an anvil head assembly. The anvil head assembly is tiltable between a tilted position and a transverse position, and anvil plates of the anvil head assembly are moveable about one or more hinges between a closed and an open position. When in the tilted and closed positions, the anvil assembly has a reduced footprint that allows the anvil assembly to be passed directly through a trocar and holes created in the bodily tissues, which eliminates the need for separate placement of the anvil head. At the site of the anastomosis, the anvil head assembly can be moved to the transverse and open positions, and the stapling head may be engaged to fire staples against the anvil head.

  • Patent number: 7124759
Abstract: A device and method as disclosed relates to a bed mountable restraining device for confining a living being such as an infant, or a small animal, to a mattress of a bed. The device includes a base including a sheet of pliable material which is suitably sized to fit on the top surface of the mattress. A plurality of mounting straps are fixed to the base. An enclosure is attached to the base, whereby the adjustable straps may be releasably attached to the mattress by securing the straps over portions of the mattress.

  • Publication number: 20060003177
Abstract: Co-extruded multilayer sheets that include a mask layer and a polymer layer are described. The mask layer exhibits a low level of adhesion with the polymer layer so it can be removed. The mask layer can adhere to the polymer layer during thermoforming and other secondary processing steps. The multilayer sheets can include any number of additional layers.

  • Publication number: 20050282962
Abstract: Pigment pre-dispersions for use with ionomers, methods for making pigment pre-dispersions for use with ionomers, pigmented ionomers, and multilayer films containing pigmented ionomers are disclosed. The pigment pre-dispersions generate or maintain a minimal pigment particle size in order to optimize the dispersability of the pigment in an ionomer upon a single pass through processing equipment. The carrier of the pigment pre-dispersion is chosen based on compatibility parameters, such as refractive index and viscosity, to be compatible with the ionomer. Carriers can include acid copolymers, acid terpolymers, ionomers, polyethylenes, ethylene vinyl acetate, and ethylene methacrylate. The pigmented ionomers created from these pigment pre-dispersions have well dispersed pigment with a particle size of less than or equal to about 25 micrometers. Films or sheets can be created from the pigmented ionomers and the pigmented ionomers can be used in mulitlayer films.
