    Abstract: A method for an extensible software installation and configuration framework may include providing a set of software modules operable to install and configure software on a computer subsystem. The set of software modules may also include one or more software module types, and each given software module type may be associated with one or more module type functions. The method may further include listing the set of software modules in a manifest file, reading the manifest file using an installation application, and installing each software module listed in the manifest file by calling the one or more module type functions.
