  • Publication number: 20160250045
Abstract: According to the embodiments described herein, prosthetic devices can include a prosthetic socket, a vacuum passage, and an evacuation device. The interior of the prosthetic socket can be adapted to receive a residual limb. The vacuum passage can extend through the side wall of the prosthetic socket and into the interior of the prosthetic socket. The evacuation device can include an electrically powered vacuum pump contained within a housing. The housing can be attached to the side wall on the exterior of the prosthetic socket. The electrically powered vacuum pump can be in communication with the vacuum passage. The electrically powered vacuum pump can draw air from the interior of the prosthetic socket, while the residual limb is received within the interior of the prosthetic socket, to evacuate the prosthetic socket.

  • Publication number: 20120004737
Abstract: A prosthetic assembly operative to evacuate an interior of a prosthetic socket, and control systems for use therewith. The prosthetic assembly employs evacuation devices for evacuating the socket. The evacuation devices preferably include at least an electrically powered vacuum pump and a power source located within a housing. Associated control systems may be of various design and may employ wired or wireless communication. • Patent number: 8016892
Abstract: A prosthetic device and prosthetic assembly operative to evacuate an interior of a prosthetic socket, and control systems for use therewith. The prosthetic device and prosthetic assembly employ evacuation devices for evacuating the socket. The evacuation devices preferably include at least an electrically powered vacuum pump and a power source, and are adapted for mounting to a universal adapter that is installed to the distal end of a prosthetic socket. Associated control systems may be of various design and may employ wired or wireless communication. When wireless communication is employed, a hand held controller may be used to remotely control operation of the evacuation device.

  • Patent number: 7947085
Abstract: Evacuation devices for evacuating the socket of a prosthetic limb, and prosthetic limb systems employing such vacuum devices. The evacuation devices each preferably include at least an electrically powered vacuum pump and a power source. Such evacuation devices can be attached at various locations on or in a prosthetic limb. Because the electrically powered pump does not require manual manipulation to create vacuum, it is substantially easier to use than a manual pump. Due to the small size and small power source required by such an electrically powered pump, an evacuation device may be readily incorporated into a prosthesis.

  • Publication number: 20090076625
Abstract: A prosthetic suspension sleeve having reinforcement that prevents or minimizes damage to the suspension sleeve, particularly as a result of abrasion, puncture, or an impact with another object during use. The reinforcement may be selectively located along one or more interior, exterior, or interior and exterior areas of a suspension sleeve. The reinforcement material may be comprised of one or more materials that preferably exhibit resistance to cuts, tears, punctures and/or other damage. In an alternative embodiment, reinforcement may be provided by mixing one or more reinforcing materials into the polymeric material of the suspension sleeve. Combinations of different reinforcement types may be employed.

  • Patent number: 5643062
Abstract: A manicure device which is well suited for filing or buffing the convex top surfaces and the outer convex edges of fingernails and toenails includes a flexible, textured belt disposed in a cartridge which is detachably secured to a housing containing a high speed electric motor. The casing includes bearings over which the belt passes when the device is being used, and a belt opening which exposes a portion of the textured surface of the belt so that a fingernail can be pressed thereto. The machine allows the belt to be pressed against a convex surface or edge of a fingernail or toenail, so that the belt will conform to the convex shape thereof and provide uniformly smooth filing or buffing. The cartridges are relatively inexpensive and easily replaced, which facilitates and promotes replacement of the cartridge whenever the machine is being used to file or buff the fingernails or toenails of a different person, whereby better hygiene is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4962756
Abstract: A portable CPM machine is presented for causing controlled continuous passive motion of one or more of the digits of a patient's hand. The device is mounted on the dorsal surface of the hand for motion of the four fingers and is mounted on the palmar aspect of the forearm for motion of the thumb. The thumb use is independent of finger use in that the device is mounted in a different location and the axis of rotation is about a line which is perpendicular to the frontal or sagittal plane of the forearm. The mounting for use with the thumb has the device mounted on the palmar surface of the forearm parallel to the longitudinal axis of the forearm. In both instances, the device is supported by a splint on the user's hand which extends along the forearm. The device has a housing with an actuating mechanism located within the housing.
