    Abstract: A snare device for retrieving and/or manipulating an object within a space, such as a body lumen. In one embodiment, the snare device includes a support and a core wire. The support includes a proximal portion terminating in a proximal end, a distal portion terminating in a distal end, and a lumen, the lumen extending distally from the proximal end. The core wire is flexible and includes a proximal portion and a distal portion. The distal portion of the core wire and the distal portion of the support are complementarily shaped and are fixedly fitted together, wherein the core wire forms a loop extending away from the distal end of the support, and wherein the core wire passes through the lumen and emerges from the proximal end of the support. The distal portion of the support and the distal portion of the core wire may be complementarily dimensioned helical structures.

    Abstract: Split support catheters, loading tools, and methods of use are disclosed. A support catheter can include an elongate tubular member and a push member. The tubular member can comprise a longitudinal slit configured to accommodate the exchange of various interventional devices into and out of the lumen defined by the tubular member. A loading tool can comprise a body member, a rod member, or both and can facilitate loading of the support catheter onto one or more interventional devices during a medical procedure. The support catheters can provide intravascular support to various interventional devices and can advantageously be inserted and removed without first removing an interventional device having its distal end at or near a target site within a patient's vasculature.

    Abstract: A preformed guidewire particularly well-suited for use in percutaneous medical procedures, such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement, includes an inner corewire of discontinuous, tapered stiffness that is surrounded along a portion of its length by a flexible, outer casing of uniform cross-section, such as a tightly wound, stainless steel, spring coil wire. The inner corewire is constructed of a shape-memory material, such as a nickel-titanium alloy, that is preformed into an encircled S-shaped configuration in its atraumatic distal region. Specifically, the distal region includes an enlarged, stiffened, proximate segment that encircles a smaller, more flexible, distal segment. As a feature of the invention, the distal and proximal segments project along fixed-radial arcuate paths that extend in opposite directions from one another. As a result, the distal region is optimally configured to limit the risk of trauma to the immediate site of treatment when inserted through a straightened guide catheter.

    Abstract: Thrombectomy catheters are presented that have curved tip portions. A suction lumen extends from at or near the proximal end of the catheter to a suction port at or near the tip portion of the catheter. The curves of the thrombectomy catheter can be selected to place a suction port at or near a vessel wall for the more effective removal of thrombus resulting from directing the suction in the direction of the thrombus. In some embodiments, the tip portion of the catheter can be transitioned from a first configuration for delivery of the catheter into the vessel to a second more curved configuration with a desired design for application of suction. The catheter can be moved in a circumferential and/or lateral direction to cover selected portions of the inner vessel wall. In some embodiments, a partially occlusive structure can be used to reduce and/or redirect flow within the vessel to improve performance of the thrombectomy.
