Patent number: 10351348Abstract: A lifting device includes a body or frame, a track, a lifting mechanism having a trolley moveable relative to the track for lifting an object, a main set of wheels coupled to a base portion of the body/frame, a maneuvering set of wheels coupled to the base portion between at least a portion of the main set of wheels and the trolley and vertically offset from the main set of wheels, and at least one arm extending outwardly from the base portion. The vertical offset between the main set and the maneuvering set of wheels forms a two stage lever which improves the mechanical advantage of the lifting device, thereby decreasing the amount of force needed to recline the object being lifted by the lifting device.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2016Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignee: SOUTHWORTH PRODUCTS CORPORATIONInventor: Mark W. Publication number: 20160185581Abstract: A motorized utility cart for a bucket. The cart may include a frame housing and an elevation assembly comprising a first and second vertical member secured to the frame housing. An actuator between the vertical members, a retention hoop connected to a top end of the actuator in a fixed position and to secure a load to a secured position, a carriage member coupled to a movable portion of the actuator adjacent to a front face of the vertical members, and a shelf attached to a carriage member top surface having a fixed portion and a tray portion. The tray portion can be in a shelf position connected at a hinge and configured to be raised in an idle position to accommodate the load. The actuator to facilitate carriage member vertical disposition along a first channel of the vertical members, wherein the channels are vertically aligned with the actuator.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2015Publication date: June 30, 2016Inventors: David Roberts, Mark W. Patent number: 6913431Abstract: An apparatus for unloading packages, parcels, postal items, baggage, etc., from a container having an open side. The apparatus has a sliding wall that is disposed over the open side of the container when the container is receiving within the apparatus. The apparatus, along with the container, is tilted such that the open side of the container is generally directed downward. From this tilted orientation, the sliding wall of the apparatus is withdrawn, incrementally exposing the open side of the container, permitting the controlled egress of the packages, etc., from the container.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2003Date of Patent: July 5, 2005Assignee: Southworth Products CorporationInventor: Mark W. Patent number: 5865590Abstract: A dual pivot material handler including a base section, a container, a pivot frame, a hydraulic power unit, a hydraulic control unit, and hydraulic cylinders for rotating the container about two pivot points. The container is pivotably mounted to one end of the pivot frame at a container pivot point, and a second end of the pivot frame is pivotably mounted to the base section at a base section pivot point. To rotate the container about the container and base section pivot points, hydraulic cylinders are mounted between the pivot frame and the container and between the base section and the pivot frame. At the initiation of a dump cycle, the cylinders mounted between the pivot frame and the container are actuated to rotate the container about the container pivot point to a horizontal position. In the horizontal position, the container rests on the pivot frame.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1997Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: Southworth Products Corp.Inventor: Mark W. Lilley
