  • Patent number: 8329851
Abstract: A functionalized polymer is disclosed that comprises the reaction product of a polymer having one or more pendant reactive functional groups and a color changing indictor having a co-reactive functional group. The co-reactive functional group of the color changing is able to react with the reactive functional group of the polymer to form a covalent bond. Therefore, the color changing indicator is pendant from the polymer. The color changing indicator maintains its ability to produce a visually discernable color change in the presence of an associated stimulus.

  • Patent number: 7540056
Abstract: The present invention relates to a floor cleaning tool. In one embodiment the floor cleaning tool comprises a backing and a handle. The backing comprises a first surface and a second surface. The handle is attached to the second surface of the backing apparatus. The backing has a generally triangular perimeter having a first edge, a second edge, and a third edge. A portion of the first edge is curved and a portion of the second edge is curved. The first edge and second edge meet at a leading point. The third edge is concave. The floor cleaning tool is capable of supporting a wipe.

  • Patent number: 7465536
Abstract: A biological soil detector is provided, having: a solid support member; a specific indicator immobilized on the solid support member; and a retaining member which holds the solid support, the retaining member and solid support are configured so that the solid support will readily contact a surface being tested for the presence of biological soil. A method for the use of the detector is also provided, the method including the following steps: contacting the biological soil detector with a surface; withdrawing the biological soil detector from the surface; and inspecting the solid support member of the detector to determine whether the specific indicator immobilized has interacted with biological soil. In still another aspect, the invention provides biological soil detector and a method for using the detector in which the detector includes: a solid support member that has been treated with at least one amine or quaternary functional coating; and a specific indicator immobilized on the coating.

  • Publication number: 20080110878
Abstract: A food thawing article for evenly thawing frozen food in a microwave is disclosed. The food thawing article comprises an impermeable film backing, an absorbent layer adjacent the impermeable film backing, and a liquid permeable surface layer comprising a plurality of apertures covering the absorbent layer, opposite the impermeable film backing. A liquid is dispersed throughout the absorbent layer. The impermeable film backing is placed adjacent a frozen food item such that when the food thawing article is exposed to microwave energy, the liquid is heated and the heat is transferred to the food to thaw the food.

  • Patent number: 4624008
Abstract: An apparatus and method for recognition of sentences comprised of utterances separated by short pauses, the utterances representative of both isolated words and connected words. Speech to be recognized is converted into frames of digital signals. Selected ones of the frames of digital signals are compared with isolated word and connected word templates stored in a template memory. Recognition of isolated words is done by comparing the selected frames of digital signals with the isolated word templates in accordance with a windowed dynamic programming algorithm having path boundary control, while connected word recognition is accomplished by comparing selected frames of digital signals with the connected word templates in accordance with a full DPA having path score normalization and utterance frame penalty calculation capability. Variable frame rate encoding is used to identify the selected frames of digital signals.
