  • Patent number: 5694085
Abstract: An input radio frequency signal to be amplified is fed to the gate terminals of parallel field effect power transistors through impedance matching networks that comprise parallel resistor-capacitor combinations. The capacitor is selected so that it is self-resonant at the frequency of operation, thereby preventing attenuation of the input signal at that frequency. A shunt resistor is coupled between the gates of the parallel transistors to eliminate odd mode oscillations.

  • Patent number: 5567192
Abstract: The present invention includes a method and apparatus for processing gas discharge tubing. The apparatus includes a manifold pumping station, a fill and evacuation station and a data acquisition station. The data acquisition station enables the processor of the tubing to input, record and archive manufacturing data such as the identity of the electrode manufacturer, the tube length and diameter, the date of processing the serial number of the tube, the fill gas, the temperature of the glass during processing, the vacuum pressure inside the tube, the current used to bombard the tube, and other variables.

  • Patent number: 5400514
Abstract: Various devices are disclosed for projecting a beam of coherent collimated light at a surface for use as reference lines and planes. The devices are also useful for projecting tracings of light in any of various geometric patterns. The devices comprise a pointer unit containing a light source, such as a laser diode. The light source is mounted so as to undergo periodic reciprocating motion in least one dimension, as imparted by any of various possible mechanisms. Combinations of such motions in two dimensions allows production of an infinite variety of geometric tracings. The pointer unit can be detachably mounted perpendicularly to a rotatable shaft provided by a base portion, or used separately as a level or hand-held pointer.

  • Patent number: 5274799
Abstract: A fault-tolerant storage device array using a copyback cache storage unit for temporary storage. When a Write occurs to the RAID system, the data is immediately written to the first available location in the copyback cache storage unit. Upon completion of the Write to the copyback cache storage unit, the host CPU is immediately informed that the Write was successful. Thereafter, further storage unit accesses by the CPU can continue without waiting for an error-correction block update for the data just written. In a first embodiment of the invention, during idle time for relevant storage units of the storage system, an error-correction block is computed for each "pending" data block on the copyback cache storage unit, and the data block and corresponding error-correction block are copied to their proper location in the RAID system.

  • Patent number: 5237658
Abstract: A multiprocessing computer system with data storage array systems allowing for linear and orthogonal expansion of data storage capacity and bandwidth by means of a switching network coupled between the data storage array systems and the multiple processors. The switching network provides the ability for any CPU to be directly coupled to any data storage array. By using the switching network to couple multiple CPU's to multiple data storage array systems, the computer system can be configured to optimally match the I/O bandwidth of the data storage array systems to the I/O performance of the CPU's.

  • Patent number: 5232504
Abstract: Pressure responsive glue dispensing nozzles are mounted on a pivotable glue distributing manifold. Rocker arms are attached to the glue distributing manifold and are actuated to pivot about a fixed pivot axis by solenoids. Adjustable stop means are used to limit and adjust the pivot stroke of the manifold so that the glue dispensing nozzles can dispense glue to one edge of a document that may have a varying thickness. Return means are provided to return the rocker arm assembly to a base position when the solenoids are de-energized.

  • Patent number: 5069040
Abstract: A condensing unit has a housing with a pair of compartments separated by a common wall. Within each compartment is a coil, a fan for passing air over said coil and a compressor operatively interconnected with the coil. There is an opening in the common wall that is opened and closed by a damper. The damper is rotatably or pivotally secured to the common wall to open and close the opening therein. A damper motor is provided for actuating the damper is response to attainment of a predetermined refrigerant pressure in the refrigeration system in the first compartment. Opening of the damper allows air to be drawn from the inoperative second compartment through the first compartment, resulting in a reduced pressure differential across the coil in the first compartment and a reduction in the air flow across the coil in the first compartment. With the reduced air flow, the pressure in the refrigeration system in the first compartment will rise to a predetermined level and the damper motor will be deenergized.
