  • Patent number: 7653117
Abstract: An improved method is provided for decoding data in a frequency hopping communications system. The method includes: monitoring transition points between data bits in a demodulated data stream, where the data bits are transmitted to a receiver over different transmission frequencies; determining a frequency over which data bits are transmitted to the receiver; determining a reliability metric for each frequency over which data bits were received, where the reliability metric is based on transition points of data bits transmitted over a given frequency; and performing a decoding operation using the reliability metric for each frequency over which data bits were received.

  • Publication number: 20090327090
Abstract: An instance of an application hierarchy can be stored on a client computer to facilitate enforcement of software licensing by a software license component of a software protection system. The application hierarchy is a tree structure (e.g., unordered) that includes a top node, one or more product offering group(s), and, one or more selling unit(s). A computer-implemented software protection system can facilitate enforcement of software licensing on a client computer. The software protection system includes a software license component that can store and enforce software licensing rule(s). The software license component can further manipulate state data of an instance of the application hierarchy stored in a licensing data store via application program interface(s) (APIs). State data and/or property(ies) of a particular node of the instance of the application hierarchy can be accessed through the API via an assigned identifier.

  • Patent number: 7526428
Abstract: A system and method for noise cancellation with noise ramp tracking in the presence of severe or ramping acoustic noise. The system conducts an estimation of the noise level in the input signal and modifies the signal based upon this noise estimate. A windowed Fourier transform is performed upon the input speech signal and an estimation of a histogram of the frequency magnitudes of the noise level and other related parameters is generated and used to compute a spectral gain function that is applied to components of the Fourier transform of the input speech signal. The enhanced components of the Fourier transform are processed by an inverse Fourier transform in order to reconstruct a noise reduced speech signal.

  • Publication number: 20080212901
Abstract: A character based system and method for correcting low confidence characters from an OCR system facilitates operator review, editing and correction of character and field level data generated by an OCR system without the need for an application that is installed at the operator workstation. The system creates a data structure of OCR information and provides that information to an operator through an HTML interface that is rendered using HTML and JavaScript. The data structure includes an OCR confidence level for each character and/or field and the operator is prompted to review only those characters/fields that meet a predetermined threshold for the confidence level. The operator can use an input key (e.g., TAB or ENTER) to navigate to each character/field with a low confidence level and thereby correct or validate each low confidence character/field as appropriate.

  • Publication number: 20070262712
Abstract: A light-emitting panel comprises a transparent substrate having a plurality of electroluminescent elements on the surface thereof. Dielectric elements are located between the electroluminescent elements, each being in contact with a conductive element in contact with the dielectric elements. • Publication number: 20060220813
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for determining pressure within a tire mounted to a vehicle, wherein the tire is coupled to a tire pressure monitoring system including a sensor coupled to a transmitter, the sensor configured to sense tire pressure and the transmitter configured to transmit the sensed tire pressure to a receiver. First, a first tire pressure is sensed. Then, a calculation is made as to whether the sensed first tire pressure is greater than a predetermined pressure threshold, equal to the predetermined pressure threshold, or less than the predetermined pressure threshold. Next, an indication is provided external to the vehicle that the sensed first tire pressure is greater than a predetermined pressure range, within the predetermined pressure range, or less than the predetermined pressure range.

  • Patent number: 7097187
Abstract: An independent suspension system is provided for coupling a set of wheels to a vehicle body structure. The system includes independently pivotable swing arms, a shock absorber assembly, a joining arm and tie rods. The swing arms are attached to the vehicle body structure and to a respective wheel and the shock absorber assembly is mounted to the vehicle structure. The shock absorber assembly includes a biasing element and a linkage coupled to the joining arm and the biasing element. The suspension system further includes a tie rod connecting each swing arm to the joining arm. The joining arm is arranged to move in a lengthwise vehicle direction under control of the biasing element in response to road input to both wheels, and rotate about an attachment point without lengthwise movement to allow the tie rods to translate in opposite lengthwise direction in response to leaning of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20060173880
Abstract: A system and related techniques generate a survey to capture user feedback about the quality of search results, in a continuous context with the user's Web page or other search activity. According to embodiments, a survey frame inviting the user to undertake a set of search questions may be presented within the same set of page frames which display the search results, so that the user may choose to answer the survey while still viewing their search results, or selected Web sites or other hits. According to further embodiments, rather than being presented within the frame structure of a page, the survey may be presented from within a browser toolbar extension, side-by-side or otherwise arranged within the environment of the user's search activity.

  • Publication number: 20050258952
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for detecting when a spare wheel (SP) is used to replace a previously rolling wheel on a vehicle, where each wheel can transmit wheel ID and motion status signals. The apparatus comprises a receiver, a memory for storing information relating wheel ID and location, a processor coupled to the receiver and memory for analyzing the wheel signals to determine if the SP is rolling, and a timer coupled to the processor that measures how long the SP has been rolling. When the SP has been rolling for predetermined time T, the processor looks at the motion status signals from remaining wheels to determine which is stopped, and then modifies the information stored in the memory to associate the SP ID with the wheel location formerly occupied by the now stopped wheel and associate the stopped-wheel ID with the storage location for the spare.
