  • Publication number: 20170141624
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for wirelessly receiving power. In one aspect, an apparatus for wirelessly transmitting power to power or charge a wireless power receiver is provided. The apparatus comprises a transmitter circuit configured to transmit wireless power via a magnetic field sufficient to power or charge a load. The apparatus further includes a processor circuit configured to determine a power level capability of the transmitter circuit. The apparatus further includes a communication transceiver circuit configured to transmit a first communication to the wireless power receiver, the first communication including a request to adjust a power demand from a first power level to a second power level, the first power level being higher than the second power level.

  • Patent number: 9614376
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus are disclosed for detecting power losses due to induction heating in wireless power receivers. In one aspect, an apparatus for wireless power transfer comprises a power transfer component configured to transmit wireless power to a wireless power receiver at a power level sufficient to charge or power a load. The apparatus further comprises a communications receiver configured to receive a message from the wireless power receiver, the message comprising a group identifier. The apparatus further comprises a controller circuit operationally coupled to the power transfer component and the communications receiver and configured to determine a power loss value based on the group identifier, the power loss value indicative of power loss due to induction heating presented by one or more wireless power receivers that are members of a group associated with the group identifier.

  • Publication number: 20160329748
Abstract: This invention describes a method and apparatus for providing wireless power. The methods and systems disclosed consist of a first coil having at least one loop forming an inner area inside boundaries of the at least one loop and an outer area outside the boundaries of the at least one loop, the first coil configured to generate a first alternating magnetic field for charging or powering a wireless power device, the first alternating magnetic field having a first magnetic field component with a first phase in the inner area, the first alternating magnetic field also having a second magnetic field component with a second phase in the outer area, and the second phase different from the first phase. In some aspects, the methods and systems comprise a second coil comprising a portion within the outer area, the second coil configured to reduce a magnitude of the second magnetic field component.
