  • Patent number: 12597078
Abstract: A system may learn what parameters are required for an item in order to compute tax for the item based on preliminary data regarding the item and/or the transaction. The system may determine a classification code based on such preliminary data and use that classification code to search or query a database storing information indicative of parameters required to compute tax for items having such a classification code. The system may map the received preliminary data into the learned required parameters and determine whether there are any required parameters for which there has not been any preliminary data mapped into them. The system may prompt the customer (e.g., seller of the item) or other user for data values of such missing required parameters or otherwise obtain data values of such parameters in order to compute the tax for the item.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Avalara, Inc.
Inventors: Amy E. Morgan, Duncan K. Carey, Kevin James Hess, Aaron David Wilson, Mark Wilhelm, Naveen K. Agrawal, Mark Alan Withers, David Kempe

  • Publication number: 20160311572
Abstract: A low profile, coated pallet assembly constructed generally of wood, including a generally planar top platform formed of plywood, spacers to provide apertures for a forklift, bottom runners, and is completely encapsulated or coated by a polymeric material. The spacers may include a hollow or foam core to reduce pallet weight but not compromise strength. The bottom runners enhance pallet stability and strength. The polymeric material provides surface friction, resistance to surface damage, and overall integrity to provide a unitary, integral pallet assembly when a substantially uniform coating is applied after pallet components are assembled and affixed.

  • Publication number: 20060005702
Abstract: The invention relates to gudgeon pin bushes which find application in highly-stressed engines, with the problem of a tendency to pit, in particular in the middle regions (with relation to the radial axis of the bush), on starting the motor. According to the invention, said problem can be avoided whereby the friction surfaces of a gudgeon pin bush, at least in the high loading region, have the following parameters measured over the bush cross-section in the axial direction: the support percentage is a minimum of 99.0% to a depth of at most 1.800 m, the depth of the roughness core profile is at most 0.30 m, the proportion of the material Mr1 of the roughness core profile is at most 8%. Said gudgeon pin bush can be obtained by means of a finishing for the bearing surface of the gudgeon pin bush using a surface machining method.
