Abstract: A TE20 launch guidance waveguide hybrid coupler includes a waveguide body, a cavity, a plurality of ports, and a bend along the H-plane. The waveguide body includes a hybrid center portion which is disposed between and is in direct communication with the plurality of ports. The bend along the H-Plane is defined within the hybrid center portion, assists in the launching of the TE20 mode, and results in typically half the axial ratio and mass when compared to traditional hybrid approaches.

Abstract: An electromagnetic absorber assembly capable of minimizing reflectivity caused by reflected and diffracted waves within a test chamber is presented. The absorber assembly includes a plurality of first wedges and a plurality of second wedges disposed in a symmetrical arrangement so as to form a continuous and smoothly changing v-shaped pattern along one or more walls of an anechoic test chamber. Each wedge has a triangular-shaped first end and second end formed by a pair of side walls and a base wall. One second end of each first wedge contacts and covers one first end of each second wedge along a contact plane. First and second wedges are disposed at a first angle and a second angle, respectively, about the contact plane in a symmetrical arrangement. The assemblies described could be installed on a flat or shaped absorber base or wall to divert reflected and refracted fields away from a quiet zone.

A slot arranged in the form of a spiral curve and having a slow-wave structure is formed in the conductive layer. The antenna also includes a planar balun formed on a second side of the substrate. The balun is in the form of a conductive layer strip positioned beneath a section on the conductive layer defined by an area between two neighboring parts of the slotline. The conductive layer strip has a shape that replicates a pattern of the two neighboring parts of the slotline. The conductive layer strip provides a balanced feed to the slot at a feedpoint that is defined by a place wherein a projection of said conductive layer strip on the second side intercepts the slotline. Electromagnetic coupling between the conductive layer strip and the slotline without electrical contact causes the exciting of the slotline.
