Patent number: 8661928Abstract: A mechanism for articulating a right arm, a left arm, a right forearm, and a left forearm of a humanoid, the arms are coupled with a torso of the humanoid by humeroscapular joints. Each of the forearms is coupled with a humerus of the respective arm, by a respective proximal radioulnar joint. The mechanism includes a first transmission, a second transmission, a first actuator, a second actuator, and a controller. The first actuator is coupled with the right humeroscapular joint and with the left proximal radioulnar joint via the first transmission. The second actuator is coupled with the left humeroscapular joint and with the right proximal radioulnar joint via the second transmission, the controller controlling the movements of each of the first actuator and of the second actuator.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2009Date of Patent: March 4, 2014Assignee: Wowwee Group LimitedInventor: Mark Woodruff Tilden

Patent number: 7942221Abstract: A walking bi-pedal robot includes a right leg and a left leg, each coupled with a pelvis via hip lateral angular joints and hip antero-posterior angular joints. Each hip lateral angular joint enables lateral angular motion and each hip antero-posterior angular joint enables antero-posterior angular motion of the respective leg. Right and left feet couple at the distal end of the respective leg via respective ankle lateral angular joints and right and left cables. One end of each cable is coupled with the exterior side of the respective foot. A pelvis motor couples with the right leg, the left leg, the other end of each cable. The pelvis motor generates lateral angular displacement of each leg about the respective hip lateral angular joint and pulls one of the cables according to the direction of the lateral angular displacement. Leg motors generate antero-posterior angular displacement of the respective leg.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2009Date of Patent: May 17, 2011Assignee: Wowwee Group LimitedInventor: Mark Woodruff Tilden

Publication number: 20100215424Abstract: A locking device includes a shape memory alloy actuator that engages a locking pin to release the pin and unlock the device it is engaging. Upon heating the shape memory alloy member, it returns to a predetermined shape, which has a length shorter than its non-heated length. As the shape memory alloy actuator shortens, it pulls the locking pin at least a pre-determined distance to release the locking pin from engagement with the device it is locking and into engagement with a pin release member. The pin release member holds the locking pin in the unlocked position until the pin release member is moved from engagement with the locking pin. Once moved, the pin release member disengages from the locking pin and the pin is moved back into its original, locked position. The shape memory alloy actuator and pin release member are also returned to their original position.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2009Publication date: August 26, 2010Applicant: HR TEXTRON INC.Inventors: R. Patent number: 7700902Abstract: A locking assembly has a base and a rotary shaft which is capable of rotating relative to the base. The rotary shaft has a shaft body and a set of capture portions supported by the shaft body. The locking assembly further includes a set of detention mechanisms supported by the base. The set of detention mechanisms is arranged to (i) initially apply retention force to the set of capture portions to provide resistance against rotation of the rotary shaft from an initial angular position, and (ii) remove application of the retention force from the set of capture portions in response to an amount of rotational torque on the rotary shaft. The amount of rotational torque on the rotary shaft exceeds a predetermined threshold and is sufficient to substantially rotate the rotary shaft from the initial angular position.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2007Date of Patent: April 20, 2010Assignee: HR Textron, Inc.Inventors: M. Robert Mock, Mark Woodruff

Patent number: 7407166Abstract: A stabilizer system provides leveling for a towed harvester vehicle. The harvester includes a hitch having a gimbal mounting to the tractor. The subframe is utilized to accommodate the gimbal and provides for utilizing the mass of the tractor to react to the stabilizer system leveling forces. The harvester utilizes telescoping assemblies that are placed intermediate the hitch and the frame as well as between the axle and the frame. The telescoping assemblies retract and extend to varied positions and provide correction. Flow to extend and retract the telescoping assemblies is provided through a proportional pendulum type valve that increases flow as needed when tilted from horizontal. The flow is increased and decreased in proportion to the amount of tilting from the home vertical position.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2006Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: Oxbo International CorporationInventors: Richard A. Briesemeister, Christopher M. Schloesser, Mark Woodruff, Allen E. Russell

Publication number: 20070039472Abstract: An air filtration system includable in and for HVAC equipment includes one or more intense field dielectric filter units and a field charging unit retained in a support structure or cabinet by a removable door which includes control circuitry and contactors engageable with corresponding contact members on a filter unit and the field charging unit for supplying high voltage DC potential to the respective units. Each filter unit includes a filter core comprising a stacked array of filter elements formed of dielectric sheets interconnected by elongated spaced apart ribs forming flow passages. The field charging unit and the filter units are removable from the support or cabinet for cleaning or replacement by opening or removing the door. An interlock switch and a field shorting mechanism are actuated during servicing or replacement of the system components.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 17, 2005Publication date: February 22, 2007Applicant: American Standard International, Inc.Inventors: Larry Bias, Jay Field, Scott Salvage, Shannon Smith, Stephen Vendt, Mark Woodruff
