Patent number: 7114175Abstract: A system and method for automatically switching network connections to an appropriate network entity based on access rights possessed by a user of a wireless terminal. A switch recognizes the certificate provided by a terminal, and directs the connection to the service provider hosting a targeted secure service if the certificate proves to have the appropriate access rights. The switch directs the connection to an enrollment module if the certificate does not correspond to the service provider's required certificate, where the user can attempt to obtain the appropriate certificate from the enrollment module to ultimately access the targeted secure service.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2001Date of Patent: September 26, 2006Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventor: Markku Lähteenmäki

Patent number: 6728564Abstract: A configurable system for obtaining a measurement of activity producing biopotentials in a subject, for example EEG or EMG biopotentials. The system includes a three electrode array positionable on the head of the patient to detect signals generated in the head of the subject. The array is connected to a monitor that includes a switch arrangement that is selectively configurable to direct the incoming signals received by the electrode array to specified inputs of a differential amplifier that creates signals that are displayed on the monitor. The switch arrangement is configurable to measure the activity of the subject in a conventional 1-channel measurement mode. The switch arrangement can also be configured to simulate a 2-channel measurement mode by alternating the configuration of the switch arrangement in a pre-determined manner.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2001Date of Patent: April 27, 2004Assignee: Instrumentarium Corp.Inventor: Markku Lähteenmäki

Patent number: 6444329Abstract: The present invention is related to a method of preserving plywood, particle board and similar wood composite products made from wood pieces/particles and a binder used to adhere such wood pieces/particle together against rot and mould decay. According to the invention, the preservative of the wood material is a complexing agent which is capable of binding transition group metals and is admixed into the binder used in the manufacture of said wood composite products prior to the formation of said product. The invention also concerns a binder composition, which contains a polymer resin as its adhesive component and a complexing agent, particularly an aminotetracarboxylic acid or a salt thereof, by approx. 1-30 wt.-% as the preservative of the wood material, and a method of producing said binder composition. Tests performed on faced plywood indicated that a water-soluble, environmentally safe complexing agent offers a white rot resistance which is superior to conventional preservatives commonly used today.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1998Date of Patent: September 3, 2002Assignees: UPM-Kymmene Oy, Koskisen Oy, Metsalitto OsuuskuntaInventors: Markku Lehtonen, Markku Lähteenmäki, Anne-Christine Ritschkoff, Jaakko Korpela
