The positioning method selection device provides an application with positioning data using one or more positioning method (205 to 209) in accordance with settings defined by the application and/or the user. The positioning method selection device (204) receives a positioning request from an application (201, 202), forms a parameter or parameters indicating the quality of positioning requested by the application, compares the quality of positioning data provided by the positioning methods with the positioning quality required by the application, and sends positioning data to the application (201, 202) in response to the positioning request.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the preparation of m-alkylphenols, particularly of 3-ethylphenol, from the mixture of alkylbenzenesulfonic acid isomers by selective desulfonation, removal of formed alkylbenzene and caustic fusion. In the present invention the inventive desulfonation is accomplished by addition of steam to the mixture of sulfonic acid in an excess in relation to the amount of evaporable water, simultaneously maintaining the temperature of the mixture above 160.degree. C. until the desired purity of isomers is obtained, and until the content of the sulfuric acid in the mixture is decreased below 40%.

    Abstract: The invention is related to a method for preparing 4-alkyl-2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorobenzene sulphonic acids by sulphonating 4-chloro-3-alkylphenol and by chlorinating 4-alkyl-2-hydroxy-5-chlorobenzene sulphonic acid present in an acidic reaction mixture. According to the invention, chlorination is carried out by adding, to the acidic reaction mixture, salts of hypochlorous and/or chloric acids and, when needed, hydrochloric acid or its salt.
