  • Patent number: 11152699
Abstract: Method, apparatus and arrangement for linearizing of a transmitter array having a plurality of non-linear branches for transmitting into a predetermined direction, wherein the non-linear branches may purposively be made different to obtain varying responses of the non-linear branches over the transmitter array. A combined array response is determined via a feedback structure that models an array response to the predetermined direction and predistortion coefficients are determined based on the measured array response. A feedback circuit with a plurality of feedback branches can be used for feeding back individual response signals at the outputs of the non-linear branches through phase shift and attenuation units of the feedback branches, and for combining the response signals at the outputs of the feedback branches, wherein phase shift and attenuation of each feedback branch is controlled to model a transmission channel of the individual response signals to a receiver in a predetermined direction.

  • Patent number: 9160464
Abstract: A method for operating a receiver and a device are provided. The device comprises a first and a second antenna, a receiver operationally coupled to the first antenna and a transceiver operationally coupled to the second antenna. The receiver receives information in bursts on a first band of radio frequencies. A controller of the device measures signal strength of the information received with the receiver, compares the measured signal strength to a reference value and enables operation of the transceiver if the measured signal strength is above the reference value, and limits operation of the transceiver during reception of the bursts if the measured signal strength is below the reference value.

  • Patent number: 8761709
Abstract: A receiver 650 operates in close proximity to at least one other component 610, 611, 612 causing interferences in signals received by the receiver 650. It is determined (steps 2002; 2003) whether and at which frequency a higher harmonic of and/or an inter-modulation product with signals generated by the other component 610 causes interference in signals received by the receiver 650, based on information about signals generated by the other component 610, 611, 612. At least one characteristic of the receiver 650 is adjusted to diminish an influence by a determined interference.

  • Patent number: 8407809
Abstract: A media file content provider 30 sends a non-permanent copy of a media file, such as a music or video file, to a second mobile station MS 34 in response to a request from a first MS 22. The copy may be rendered non-permanent by streaming it, by encrypting it, and by appending a first instruction to automatically delete it after playing. The first MS 22 may be given an option of delivery pathways, such as cellular 76, 78, WLAN 80, or DVB-H 84. After playing, an offer is made to the second MS 34 to purchase a permanent copy of the media file. If accepted, the content provider may provide another copy of the media file, or preferably a permanent decryption key or a second instruction that defeats the first instruction prior to its deletion of the media file.

  • Patent number: 8170063
Abstract: This invention relates to wireless communication systems, specifically to methods for reducing interference. The invention allows a mobile station to determine if certain transmissions of the mobile station cause interference to reception by a second receiver in the mobile station, and indicate to the network that a change in a transmission parameter of the mobile station is desired. The network can then change a transmission parameter to reduce interference observed by the second receiver.

  • Patent number: 7936307
Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new apparatus, method and software product for using a cover antenna (e.g., conductive, metallic, etc.) in an electronic device, with multiple coupled feeds (e.g., dual feed) to the antenna and with one or more switches and a matching circuit. Then it is possible to use a metal plate as a metal cover, e.g., for mobile devices, which will act as an antenna with multiple feedings for cellular and non-cellular radios.

  • Patent number: 7865167
Abstract: A method and a device used for displaying wideband information to a user has a return channel made through a cellular mobile terminal providing interactivity. The device includes a receiver for communicating in a first band of radio frequencies and a transmitter for communicating in a second band of radio frequencies. The method includes receiving information in a symbol-wise manner with the receiver in a first band of RF frequencies; generating a notification of an occurrence of a burst transmission from the transmitter; and in response to the notification, terminating the reception of the information for a portion of one symbol time corresponding to a duration of the burst transmission. The method may include an optional step, further in response to the notification, of reducing power consumption by turning off at least a portion of the receiver for a period of time corresponding to the duration of the burst transmission.

  • Patent number: 7796560
Abstract: A device 22 includes a communication system transceiver 40 for exchanging signals in a first frequency band and a receiver 30 for receiving signals in a second frequency band. In order to improve the performance of the receiver. A processing portion 34 of the devices detects the presence of signals interfering with the signals in the second frequency band and also determines a timing pattern for interfering signals based on a timing information which is indicative of the timing for transmissions employed by the transceiver 40. A manipulation of signals reaching the receiver 30 during intervals defined by the determined timing pattern is then done, in order to reduce a performance degradation due to interfering signals originating from a transmitter 21 employing the same timing for transmissions as the transceiver 40. A corresponding method is also disclosed.
