  • Patent number: 12564977
Abstract: A razor blade. The razor blade includes a substrate having a first facet and a second facet that converge to define a cutting edge. A first textured surface is formed on the first facet and includes a first plurality of elements with a depth between about 0.01 ?m and about 20 ?m. The first textured surface is spaced apart from the cutting edge by about 0.05 ?m to about 2 ?m.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 3, 2026
    Assignee: The Gillette Company LLC
Inventors: Oliver Heinz Claus, Eduardo Villarreal, Neville Sonnenberg, Joseph Allan Depuydt, Dieter Heinz Josef Gross, Marko Limpert-Kiesel
  • Publication number: 20250121519
Abstract: A method of making a razor blade. The method includes forming a first facet on a first surface of a substrate. A second facet is formed on a second surface of the substrate, opposite the first surface. The first facet and the second facet converge to define a cutting edge. A first plurality of elements is laser ablated with a depth between about 0.01 ?m and about 20 ?m on the first facet. The first plurality of elements are spaced apart from the cutting edge about 0.05 ?m to about 2 ?m.

  • Publication number: 20230366422
Abstract: A method of gluing a first metal part to a second part includes the steps of providing a first metal part such as a steel part, and the second part such as a second metal part, treating a surface portion of the first metal part intended for being glued to the second part with laser pulses so that a surface layer of the first metal part across the surface portion is removed, preferably by ablation, while applying laser pulses to the surface portion of the first metal part also applying a pressurized air or gas stream to the surface portion, applying an adhesive to at least the surface portion of the first metal part and/or to a surface of the second part, and gluing the first metal part and the second part together.
