In various embodiments, a flow sensor for measuring fluid flow within a breathing system may comprise a housing defining a flow channel and comprising: a housing body and a plurality of coupling members, wherein each coupling member defines an opening through the housing body, the plurality of coupling members comprising: a set of coupling members configured for coupling to a suction tube assembly, each of which is fluidly connected with the housing body via one of a plurality of bottom openings provided on a bottom side of the housing body such that the flow sensor facilitates a contaminant extraction operation defined by a contaminant present within the housing being extracted to the suction tube assembly through the coupling members; wherein each of the coupling members is integrally configured as part of the housing.
