  • Patent number: 8889167
Abstract: A plastic implant device for a mammal that contains a rare earth metal compound tracer and a method for detecting degradation such as wear of the implanted device are disclosed. The tracer can also be present with a separate antioxidant or the tracer compound can be can be the salt of a C6-C22 unsaturated carboxylic acid. The rare earth metal compound tracer is released when the prosthetic is worn down or otherwise degraded in the mammalian body in which it was implanted. The presence and amount of released tracer present in a body fluid or tissue sample measured and is proportional to the degree of degradation of the implant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 9, 2009
Date of Patent: November 18, 2014
    Assignee: Rush University Medical Center

  • Publication number: 20130237221
Abstract: A method of establishing a relationship between access nodes in a wireless communications network is provided. An access node is registered with the network. Information about each access node registered with the network is then stored at a control node. A list is then compiled at the control node, which includes each access node registered with the network and the list indicates which access node is a neighbour of another access node. This neighbour list is sent from the control node to each access node in the network. When an access node detects other access nodes, this is reported to the control node, which updates the neighbour list to the access nodes.

  • Publication number: 20120196609
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses are provided for facilitating allocation of a common resource to a terminal. A method may include transmitting one or more inbound packet data units including an indication of a category of a terminal and an indication of an identity of the terminal to a network node responsible for managing allocation of a common resource to the terminal. The method may further include receiving an absolute grant of a portion of the common resource to the terminal, wherein the absolute grant is issued by the network node based at least in part upon the transmitted indication of the category of the terminal. Corresponding systems and apparatuses are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7860598
Abstract: In a method for controlling material flow in production, or a consumable or replacement part maintenance, of a product comprised of a plurality of individual parts, the individual parts are delivered to a goods receipt of a logistic system, a transponder being associated with the individual parts. In the transponder are stored production and delivery data regarding the individual part. The data of the transponder are read at the goods receipt and used for controlling further material flow such that the individual parts are transported in a controlled manner to subsequent process stations.
