  • Patent number: 9581694
Abstract: A method for operating an ultrasonic system having a multiplicity of ultrasonic sensors is disclosed. The sensors are arranged distributed on a motor vehicle and are actuated in measuring cycles for the emission of an ultrasonic signal, where the measuring cycles are repeated. An object in the surroundings of the motor vehicle is detected by a detection device, different from the ultrasonic system, of the motor vehicle, and a relative position of the object relative to the motor vehicle is determined. The number of ultrasonic sensors which are actuated within one measuring cycle is then defined as a function of the current relative position.

  • Patent number: 7573374
Abstract: A method for operating an environmental recognition system of a vehicle, in particular, a proximate region recognition or parking assistance system, comprising sensors for detecting objects proximate the vehicle, wherein, during operation of the system, an object located in the detecting area of the sensors is recognized and the separation and/or the position of the object relative to the vehicle are determined. When disturbing signals occur and are recognized, a change of the separation and/or the position of the vehicle relative to the object are determined by information detected by other vehicle systems. A system for operating such a method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7545484
Abstract: The invention relates to method and a device for determining the projected distance between a distance measuring device and a nearest point on the surface of an obstacle, the projected distance between said point and the distance measuring device being fundamentally the shortest in relation to all points of the obstacle. The aim of the invention is to be able to calculate the current distance between the nearest point and the distance measuring device, when the point P is no longer inside the detection region of the distance measuring device. According to the invention, the calculation of the projected distance is based on information about the relative movement of the distance measuring device and the obstacle, and on a defined limiting distance.

  • Patent number: 7499375
Abstract: A method and a device for monitoring a space for the presence of a foreign body comprises at least one transmitter and a first and second receiving device. The signal of the second receiving device which is spaced further apart from the transmitter than the first receiving device is evaluated for its parasitic signal portions. If the distance between the first and the second receiving device is not too great, it can be assumed that parasitic signal portions detected in the second received signal are also contained in the first received signal. In this case, it is recommended to discontinue monitoring the space or to discard any result of this monitoring already obtained at least until no parasitic signal portions are detected in a repeated evaluation of the second received signal.

  • Publication number: 20070274157
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring a space for the presence of a foreign body. The monitoring device usually comprises at least one transmitter and a first and second receiving device. Conventional methods for evaluating the signals received by the receiving devices only allow for a limited statement as to whether the received signals possibly contain parasitic signal portions which would falsify an evaluation with respect to the presence of a foreign body. The aim of the invention is therefore to provide a method and device which improve the reliability of such a statement. For this purpose, the signal of the second receiving device which is spaced further apart from the transmitter than the first receiving device is evaluated for its parasitic signal portions. If the distance between the first and the second receiving device is not too great, it can be assumed that parasitic signal portions detected in the second received signal are also contained in the first received signal.
