  • Patent number: 11260861
Abstract: A method, a device and a computer-readable storage medium with instructions for determining the lateral position of a vehicle relative to the lanes on a roadway. The device has an image processing unit for detecting roadway markings as well as a positioning unit for determining an initial position for the vehicle. An evaluation unit is set up to determine that the detected roadway markings are insufficient for detecting a lateral position of the vehicle by comparing the detected roadway markings with roadway marking information from a lane geometry map for the initial position determined for the vehicle. In this case, the evaluation unit identifies an approximate lateral position of the vehicle while taking into consideration information from the lane geometric map.

  • Patent number: 10963708
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, a device (20, 30) and a computer-readable storage medium with instructions for determining the lateral position of a vehicle relative to the lanes of a road. An image processing unit (22) detects (10) road markings. A position-determining unit (23) determines (11) a starting position for the vehicle. A processing unit (24) determines (12) points of intersection of a line which is orthogonal to the vehicle movement and the detected road markings. The processing unit (24) determines (13) in addition points of intersection of the orthogonal line and road markings from a lane geometry map for the starting position determined for the vehicle, the points of intersection being filtered. An evaluation unit (25) finally determines (14) the lateral position of the vehicle by comparing the determined points of intersection.

  • Patent number: 10943130
Abstract: A method, a device and a computer-readable storage medium with instructions for determining the lateral position of a transportation vehicle relative to the lanes of a carriageway. An image processing unit acquires geometry information and property information relating to carriageway markings. A position-determining unit determines an approximate position of the transportation vehicle. An evaluation unit determines the lateral position of the transportation vehicle by comparing the determined geometry information and property information of the carriageway markings with carriageway marking geometries at the approximate position determined for the transportation vehicle, from a lane geometry map. The lane geometry map contains lane center geometries and lane edge geometries with a high level of accuracy with respect to one another.
