Patent number: 7620389Abstract: The invention relates to a method and communication system allowing interception of a communication or connection of a target to be intercepted. According to preferred embodiments of the invention, interception triggering information is transmitted between the user plane and control plane (e.g. via Gr-, Gc-, Gi-interfaces). The system comprises at least one control means for handling signaling of a connection between a user equipment and another communication device, and a support element for transmitting traffic information between the user equipment and the another communication device. When the connection is to be intercepted, the control means is adapted to generate an interception information for informing the support element or another network element on an identification of the target to be intercepted. The support element is adapted to copy the traffic information to another network element for interception when receiving an interception information from the control means.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2001Date of Patent: November 17, 2009Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Seppo Kallio, Markus Martin, Martti Lumme, Jorma Seurujärvi, Antti Laurila

Patent number: 7602762Abstract: The invention proposes a network system comprising a first network element (2) and at least a second network element (3), the second network element being adapted to operate in at least two different modes, wherein the first network element (2) is adapted to send a message to the second network element, and the second network element (3) is adapted to set the mode in response to information included in the message and indicating whether a particular procedure is to be performed and/or has been performed. Thus, the second network element sets its mode dependent on whether a procedure like processing of a location request has to be performed or has not to be performed, or, whether a procedure has been performed or not. The network elements can be Call State Control Functions (CSCF).Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2000Date of Patent: October 13, 2009Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Risto Kauppinen, Ilkka Westman, Petteri Ylä-Outinen, Markus Martin

Publication number: 20080161054Abstract: An apparatus is configured to be operably connected to an access network controller device as well as to a pool of network elements which all comprise the same radio network configuration. The apparatus further comprises a selection functionality configured to select and connect one or more of the network elements with the access network controller device.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2006Publication date: July 3, 2008Inventors: Juha Kallio, Markus Martin, Janne Muhonen

Patent number: 6830179Abstract: The present invention relates to a payment system comprising a terminal (26) for establishing a connection via a mobile communication network to purchase chargeable services or products, a service provider's payment centre (25) for receiving information on the payment of services or products purchased by a subscriber, and a billing centre (24) for maintaining subscriber-specific billing data comprising information, required for billing, on the services or products purchased. The payment system further comprises means (23) for comparing the price of a selected service or product with a limit of a corresponding defined service or product group, and means (23) for accepting the purchase of the service or product provided the price of the service or product is below or equal to the limit of the corresponding group or rejecting the purchase if the price of the service or product exceeds the limit.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2002Date of Patent: December 14, 2004Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Aki T. Korhonen, Markus Martin

Patent number: 6816722Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement against fraudulent use in a telecommunications network. The invention is based on the idea that at least one fraud profile identified by an identifier is created and the identifier is included in the subscriber data of some subscribers. Based on this identifier the fraud restriction parameters of the subscriber are retrieved from the subscriber's fraud profile, and these fraud restriction parameters are used in detecting and indicating possible fraudulent use. The fraud restriction parameters include values for different service limits, such as the maximum number of call forwarding re-quests and/or the maximum number of location updates during a certain period, and possibly at least for some features an action parameter related to a service limit and implemented when the service limit is reached.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2001Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: Nokia, Inc.Inventors: Vesa Blom, Kari Einamo, Jaana Hurme, Petteri Mandelin, Esko Paldan, Leena Rossi, Soili Haapala, Tomi Lindgren, Markus Martin, Raili Numminen

Publication number: 20040078349Abstract: The present invention proposes a method for billing a subscriber (A, B) for data transmission in a communication network (NW; AN, CN) said communication network comprising at least one call control entity (CSCF) for controlling calls to be established from a subscriber (A, B) to a communication destination (B, A), said method comprising the steps of: forwarding a signaling message from said subscriber (A) to said destination (B), said signaling message comprising a message header and a message body, said message header including information descriptive for a content carried in the message body, analyzing said signaling message header at said call control entity (CSCF), and generating billing information based on the result of analysis.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2003Publication date: April 22, 2004Inventors: Jari Syrjala, Markus Martin, Juha-Pekka Koskinen, Juha R. Patent number: 6633768Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for restricting the duration of communication in a telecommunications network. The invention is based on the idea that at least one restriction table is created with restriction parameters for monitoring the duration of sub-scriber's communication on the basis of the call type and the applicability of this restriction table to individual subscribers is indicated by a status parameter in subscriber specific data. Based on the call type, such as a forwarded or mobile originated call, the correct restriction parameter is retrieved from the restriction table for those subscribers for whom the status parameter is set “on” and the limiting value included in the restriction parameter is used in detecting and indicating calls of long duration. In one embodiment of the invention the restriction parameters are created to apply on the basis of call type and call direction.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2001Date of Patent: October 14, 2003Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Jaana Hurme, Soili Haapala, Tomi Lindgren, Markus Martin, Raili Numminen

Patent number: 6631275Abstract: When the user lifts the receiver, the terminal of a wireless local loop telephone system detects this and generates a dial tone as normally. The user starts dialing. But instead of waiting for completion of dialing, the terminal immediately sends a channel request message to the network. This triggers the exchange of normal messages with the result that a signaling channel is assigned, an authentication procedure is performed and the ciphering mode is set up during the time when the user is pressing keys to give a called subscriber's telephone number. Because dialing is still in process and the called subscriber's number is not yet available, the terminal puts a predetermined pseudonumber into a message which normally carries the called subscriber's number. The pseudonumber informs the network that the terminal will send the telephone number of the called subscriber later. The number will arrive as DTMF digits on the assigned signaling channel.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2000Date of Patent: October 7, 2003Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Markus Martin, Heikki Tuunanen
