  • Patent number: 12015158
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a membrane for a fuel cell or electrolytic cell, in which (i) a liquid coating composition, which contains a supported catalyst containing precious metal and also contains an ionomer, is applied to a polymer electrolyte membrane which contains an ionomer, the ionomer of the liquid coating composition and the ionomer of the polymer electrolyte membrane each being a copolymer which contains as monomer a fluoroethylene and a fluorovinyl ether containing a sulfonic acid group, (ii) the coated polymer electrolyte membrane is heated to a temperature in the range from 178° C. to 250° C.

  • Publication number: 20230055176
Abstract: The invention relates to an electrolysis arrangement and a method for producing hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis of an aqueous electrolysis medium, in particular a corrosive electrolysis medium. According to the invention, the electrolyte cooler to maintain the desired operating temperature of the electrolysis cell stack is arranged downstream of the electrolysis cell stack and upstream of the anolyte gas-liquid separator. By this arrangement, less corrosion resistant materials can be used in particular on the anode side of the electrolysis arrangement, since conduits and further components on the anode side of the electrolysis arrangement are exposed to lower temperatures.

  • Publication number: 20220376269
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a catalyst for an electrochemical cell, wherein: a graphited porous carbon material is treated with an oxygen-containing plasma or an aqueous medium containing an oxidising agent, at least one noble metal compound is deposited on the treated carbon material, the impregnated carbon material is brought into contact with a reducing agent such that the noble metal compound is reduced to a metallic noble metal.

  • Publication number: 20220290317
Abstract: An electrolyser system having an electrolysis stack and a direct current source, in order to generate oxygen and hydrogen as electrolysis gas by electrolysis of a water containing electrolysis medium. The electrolysis stack includes an anode section configured to generate oxygen and a cathode section configured to generate oxygen. Furthermore, the electrolyser system has an anode gas separator configured to separate oxygen from the electrolysis medium and a cathode gas separator configured to separate hydrogen from the electrolysis medium, wherein at least one of the gas separators includes a gas separating section and a gas cooling section, wherein the gas cooling section has a water inlet connected with a water supply, in order to supply cooling water to the gas cooling section of the gas separator, for the direct cooling of the electrolysis gas separated in the gas separating section of the gas separator within the gas cooling section.
