  • Publication number: 20120111291
Abstract: A device (1) for regulating a coolant flow in a cooling system of an internal combustion engine (2) with a valve arrangement (3) that includes a rotary disk valve (4) for switching at least one cooling circuit (5, 6) and/or a bypass circuit (7), as well as a coolant pump (8) that is constructed as an impeller pump and is connected on the suction side to the valve arrangement (3). The coolant pump (8) has an axial adjustable guide plate (11) on an inside between two end stops (9, 10) for closing and releasing a pump outlet (12). The guide plate (11) for the axial adjustment is indirectly coupleable by a lead screw thread (13) to a drive shaft (14) of the rotary disk valve (4). A cooling system for an internal combustion engine (2) with such a device (1) is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20120076640
Abstract: A controllable coolant pump which has a pump housing. In the pump housing a pump shaft is arranged, which connects a drive wheel to an impeller wheel. In the operating state of the coolant pump, during a rotation of the impeller wheel, coolant is sucked in via a cover disk which is mounted in front of a suction space, and is conveyed into an annular channel of the pump housing. A delivery volume of the coolant pump can be influenced via an actuator which interacts with an axially displaceable guide plate assigned to the impeller wheel. An elastic sealing element is provided for effective sealing of an annular gap which is produced in a functionally required manner between the impeller wheel and the guide plate. The sealing element is inserted in an annular groove of the impeller wheel and is supported sealingly on a cylindrical section of the guide plate.

  • Publication number: 20110297111
Abstract: A regulable coolant pump for a coolant circuit of an internal combustion engine, which has a pump housing and a hollow shaft that is placed in the housing and mounted on rolling bearings that connects a drive wheel to an impeller. As the impeller rotates, coolant is drawn in via an inlet chamber that is upstream from the cover disk and is delivered, via vanes of the impeller, into an annular channel of the pump housing. The volumetric delivery can be influenced through an axially displaceable baffle plate assigned to the impeller. The baffle plate is connected in a rotationally rigid manner to a push rod guided in the hollow shaft that acts together with an adjusting unit. A sealing element is provided to seal an annular gap that forms between the baffle plate and the cover disk.
