Abstract: A method of managing subscriber data in a communication network, the method comprising: sending a message associated with a subscriber and including data relating to the identity of said subscriber; routing said message to a first network entity based on identity and routing information stored at a register; subsequent to receiving said message at the first network entity provisioning a second network entity with subscriber data required by said second network entity to be able to service said subscriber; and updating routing information associated with the subscriber at the register to route subsequent signalling to the second network entity.

Abstract: A mobile communication system and a method for connecting a remote workstation to a data network via a mobile communication network, which allow a remote workstation to be connected more flexibly over a radio path by providing a special interconnecting computer in conjunction with a mobile exchange for extending the connection to a designation data network. The interconnecting computer thus acts as a bus between the remote workstation using the mobile communication network and its home data network, simulates the operation of the remote workstation towards the data network, and takes care of the real remote workstation, which is behind the radio path. A data connection established over the radio path can be released so as to minimize the air time when the radio path is not needed for telecommunication, but the interconnecting computer keeps the extended connection active towards the data network.

Abstract: Location updating is provided in a mobile communication system which visitor location registers, each of which maintains the subscriber and location data of mobile subscribers visiting its service. In addition, there are sub-location registers for a particular sub-area of the service area of a visitor location register. A sub-location register is arranged to forward the first location updating of a mobile station arriving into the sub-area to the visitor location register to the service area of which the sub-area belongs, in order to update the location data of the visitor location register and to copy the necessary subscriber data from the visitor location register to the sub-location register. The sub-location register is also arranged to independently handle the subsequent location updatings of the mobile station in the sub-area in such a manner that the location of the mobile station is updated only in the sub-location register.
