  • Patent number: 5025760
Abstract: A unique method of manufacturing a liquid cooled cylinder block by means of a die-casting process is disclosed. The cylinder block (12) has a bore (15) with a plurality of apertures. There is an intake passage (24) through the cylinder block (12) which terminates in an intake port (25) in the bore (15), and an exhaust passage (29) that extends from an exhaust port (31). There are also a plurality of scavenge passages (27) which terminate in scavenge ports (28). The scavenge passages (27) interconnect the bore (15) and the combustion chamber (18). The scavenge passages (27) are formed by means of a pair of side covers (37) which are attached to the cylinder block (12) by means of a plurality of fasteners and a gasket (43). Suitable coolant enters via coolant passageway (44) and circulates through coolant passageways (33, 38, 50, 60).

  • Patent number: 4925408
Abstract: Disclosed is an intake and pump assembly (101) for an aquatic vehicle (10) and a method for disassembling an intake and pump assembly. The intake and pump assembly (101) includes an intake housing (18), a pump body (66), and a discharge nozzle (79). The intake housing (18) is provided with an intake grill (89) and flow director (85). The impeller (17) is surrounded by a wear ring (58). A vane (72) is integrally formed within the pump body (66). The drive shaft assembly (37) is provided with couplers (30, 33) and ball guides (26, 50 ) of resilient material which interconnect the component parts of the drive shaft assembly (37) and absorb shock and misalignment. Stacked washers (61) are provided for adjustment purposes.

  • Patent number: 4781141
Abstract: Improved jet propelled aquatic vessel (1) with a hull (60) profile which increase water entrainment to the jet pump intake orifice (14) and tends to stabilize the vessel. The vessel has a hull (60) with a lowered center section (13) wherein a concave water entrainment groove (15) is located. The vessel includes an operator control panel (43) and an operator support structure (10). The engine (20) is forwardly mounted in a closed engine compartment (21) while the air intake (29) for the engine (20) utilizes a combination of high and low points to avoid flooding of the engine compartment (21) should the vessel (1) capsize. To turn the vessel (1) a jet nozzle (12) is deflected by mechanical linkage (45). The vessel's steering wheel (11) is coordinated with jet nozzle (12) and mechanical linkage (45) to limit maximum deflection.
