  • Patent number: 8869516
Abstract: A machine includes an internal combustion engine disposed within an engine compartment and supported on a machine frame. An exhaust stack has an inlet fluidly connected to an exhaust manifold of the internal combustion engine and an outlet in fluid communication with ambient air. A diesel particulate filter is disposed along the exhaust stack. A cooling package includes at least one heat exchanger and a blower fan. The blower fan is configured to blow cooling air from the engine compartment sequentially through the at least one heat exchanger and an outlet of the cooling package. Exhaust gas exiting the exhaust stack outlet is mixed with the cooling air exiting the cooling package outlet in a high temperature zone surrounding the exhaust stack outlet to form a fluid mixture, and a temperature of the fluid mixture at a perimeter of the high temperature zone is below 200 degrees Celsius.

  • Publication number: 20070247571
Abstract: A metal cutting and welding guide that aids operator precision in hot metalworking. The guide assists in cutting or welding straighter more precise lines on metal. The guide comprises an arm cradle with a rolling mechanism and arm straps or some similar attaching mechanism. The preferred rolling mechanism moves in a strictly linear motion along the metal. In an alternative embodiment the rolling mechanism can swivel for nonlinear cuts or welds. The invention is affixed to the operator's arm with straps. The rolling mechanism guides the operator as he cuts or welds the metal on a horizontal surface. The operator holds the torch in the arm with the guide attached.

  • Publication number: 20070190946
Abstract: A linearizer for reducing intermodulation distortion in a non-linear device. The novel linearizer includes an input port for receiving a signal from the device and a circuit for effecting gain expansion on the signal that counteracts a gain compression of the device. In an illustrative embodiment, the circuit includes a starved limiter in shunt with the device, implemented using a pair of biased diodes D1 and D2. The first diode D1 is connected to ground and the second diode D2 is coupled to the signal. In an alternate embodiment, the linearizer also includes a second pair of biased diodes D3 and D4, D3 connected to ground and D4 coupled to the signal, and a plurality of reactive elements for increasing the operational bandwidth of the linearizer.
